[How To] Placing 'Delete' button in Gmail

Recommended Posts

I am editing the post and deleting it 'cos my account has been disabled for 24 hrs. All for using a simple GreaseMonkey script which I've disabled now

Hope I get my account back.

Now that is heavy-handed. You should write to them and demand an explanation as to how this violates Terms of Use, I've just been reading it and can't see any but the most narrow-minded, legalistic interpretations for objection.

Tell them your a shareholder (they can't check).

BTW there are similar scripts I have seen about the net.

Nope. By the way, my account was enabled after few hours and I have ever since continued to use GreaseMonkey and the javascript for the 'smart delete button' w/o any probs thus far.

trigger_my_passion, you aren't also using the gmail drive are you?

what?

I use mozilla thunderbird and never had to worry about any scripts. The gmail menu is a little minimalistic.

Wish Gmail Had a Delete Button?

I wrote the

Gmail_Smart-Delete_Button script.

It enables/disables itself, depending on whether or not any items have been checked. It works with all applicable Gmail pages, labels & mail items.

Regarding Gmail locking an account, it is very unlikely due to my script as it is all client-side code, which runs after the page has finished loading and it's "on_load" event runs. It uses no server resources (the main reason Gmail locks accounts). Mail deletion is done by selecting the "Move to Trash" item in the actions dropdown (via code), not by any special call to the server. There is no way Gmail could even know you were using the script.

Give it a try!
