Abit AT7 Q?

Recommended Posts

I think I'm going to get this board but I just read a review that said he could only get the board to work if it had PC2700 memory in it and all I have is PC2100, If anyone has this board and any memory other then PC2700 could you please tell me if you have had any memory problems. Thanks! :D

I could be mistaken but I believe that since the board supports DDR PC2700, you should be able to use PC2100 but you have to realize that since the memory is slower, your system won't be optimized compared to a system running PC2700

BTW, that is a very nice board. I wish I can get one but I have to go thru my banker (wife :D ) who won't let me. For now, I'll just be satified with my awesome KR7A-133.

Hey, I don't have one but it should work, all you gotta do is make sure the mem is running at 133 instead of 166. No way it won't do that. But Abit has a sheet online at thier site that shows wich memory modules they found didn't work and I recommend checking that out. Also if using 2 dimm's I heard for the board it was better to put them in the 1st and 3rd slots, rather than 1st and 2nd.

Peace

oh and if you do decide to get one stay away from board revisions 1.o and 1.1 as they at this point and time seem to be incompatible with the new thouroghbred athlons. Go for a 1.2 revision

It's not 100% verified it incompatible, but early reports from sites like www.hardcop.com and others imply. Only way is to look on the motherboard. My Ks75a has a sticker on thee bios chip that says the revision. Not sure where it is on Abit mobo's. My k7s5a though is reaching it's end so I'm looking at the AT7 so I've been reading up on it.

They(Abit) have just released a new bios to support them but I'd be careful till we got confirmation, and it was tested.

WOW! Thanks for all the replys everyone, Yeah I'am soooo going to get this board when I get paid on Friday! What was really messed up about that review was the guy went on to say that alot of the othert reviews that he had seen where all wrong when it came time to test the memory the results could not have been right? Hmmmmm I don't know maybe he dosen't know how to test motherboards?

Here is the link if you want to see the review.

OK I'm going to get the board but in a few weeks, I need to know a good memory manufacturer that has PC2700 memory I was thinking maybe two 512MB that should be all the memory I can handle, I've always liked Crucial should I just stay with them?
