Rob2687
TORONTO (Reuters) - A truck hauling 2,000 cases of beer flipped over and unleashed a sea of suds onto Canada's busiest highway on Wednesday, in a scene that could have been lifted from the Canadian cliche handbook. The early morning accident brought rush hour traffic to a standstill on highway 401 in north Toronto, as rescuers worked to free a woman trapped in the small car that collided with the tractor trailer. "Believe it or not with this crushed car, the young lady driving it is going to be okay," Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Cam Wooley told CP24 news. "We've got sand down now absorbing the beer," he added. In Canada, beer is closely co-advertised with the national obsession of hockey and an enduring national stereotype is the McKenzie brothers, the 1980s-era comedy team of Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas who swilled beer and ended every sentence with "eh?." Police said the beer-soaked sand would be scooped into bins and returned to the supplier for destruction. Not the booze! :( :p

WishX
Say... they could take the sand that soaked up all the beer and make glass mugs out of it. Then you'd have true beer mugs! :D
Fred Derf Veteran Posted May 13, 2005 Veteran Share Posted May 13, 2005 Beer, ribs and vodka? It's Homer Simpson's dream come true... Third Tipover They say bad things happen in threes ? and that was certainly the case on G.T.A. highways as another tractor-trailer flipped over Thursday morning ? the second of the day and the third overturned rig in less than 24 hours. The latest accident occurred at approximately 11am Thursday on the ramp from the eastbound 401 to the northbound 427. Skid marks were plainly visible on the road, as the toppled truck took up most of the pavement. The rig was loaded with more t24,000 kg of meat, including chuck, pastrami, and short ribs. Three witnesses at the scene said they thought the truck had taken the ramp too fast. The driver, who was inside the cab when emergency crews arrived, was not seriously injured. The ramp reopened in time for the afternoon rush. But local motorists weren't the only ones inconvenienced. Hamilton drivers had thThursday morning rush hour stalled by vodka ? more accurately, a pile of vodka bottles which smashed on the pavementnt of Highway 403 when another tractor-trailer overturned. No one was seriously injured in the spill, but the highway near the Q.E.W. was closed for hours as crews cleaned up the broken glass from the empty containers. It appears the truck was the only vehicle involved. A day earlier, Toronto commuters had to contend with spilled beer all over the highway after a big rig tipped on the 401 Wednesday morning, causing traffic chaos. Careless driving charges were laid against a 19-year-old Mississauga woman in Wednesday?s spill after her Honda Civic apparently collided with the Molson truck in the midst of a lane cThe truck flipped and crashed into the cement guardrail, spilling more than 2,000 cases of beer onto the highway, leaving it a foamy mess.ess. Traffic was backed up for kilometres during the six-hour clean-up. Though her Civic was demolished, the woman miraculously sustained minor injuries. The trucker was fine, too.
