privitization on social security?

Well BOOGy, they aren't 'your' SS dollars which I think is the root of this whole ****ing problem.?

That's right. The money that goes out of my paycheck into Social Security isn't my money. I never earned that money when I work. I forgot that part.:

Ministers get to opt out of SS, so they can invest in their own retirement. This is just giving others the chance to do the same...something I would much rather prefer to do.....since SS as we know it....won't be a viable option when I retire.

As far as 'investment'...I think people are referring to multiple meanings of the word. Investment as to % of return compared to investment in one's long term goals. My kids college is an 'investment' in their future. The goverment doesn't have my best interests in terms of my retirement goals. I simply want that control.

As for welfare...get a job.

BOOG, you don't even make sense. That is the best reasoned response you can give us? So basically you are saying that you are against ANY social programs that help ANYONE other than YOU. Have I followed your faltering logic correctly?

There is no ambiguity of language here. You have absolutely no clue, just as I have said, of 'why' social security exists or what it is for but GOD DAMN if you have an opinion on how it should be reformed. Lets cut to the chase then. Privatization, for you, is just the first foot in the door for annihilating the system completely.

And you wonder why I hold you in such bloody contempt...

The self-centered perspective for social security:

Social security/welfare exists to give poor people alternatives other than just breaking into wealthy people's houses.

Mmkay. I am simply talking about control over my SS dollars. I didn't know I needed to give a dissertation on how SS works. Next time, I'll keep that in mind for :)u. :)

I know how it works. I also know how it won't work in the future. I am wasting my dollars in a program that is going to fail. So I should just sit by and say "Oh well...if it fails for me, it might as well fail for everyone else"

Privitization obviously isn't something that would happen overnight...that would ruin what's left of SS. We have to take care of those currently relying on it to begin with, then supplementing those who are going to be on it, until true privitization works.

I wonder why you have 'bloody contempt'? Not really. I could honestly care less what you think of:hug:  Perhaps you should vent your energy into coming up with a solution as opposed to disliking someone and getting your panties in a bunch on the intarweb:laugh:laugh:

So that's the best you got? Now that you realize you're wrong, your heart isn't really into your own money. You will regret your inability to think with an open mind.

Wow, it's truly amazing the things you can take out of context. My heart wasn't in the argument. I'm not wrong, I just don't feel like arguing to deaf ears.

"My own money" would do better if I were given the option to invest it as I gave the example that my 401k has done better in 5 years as opposed to the Gov'ts 22 years with my SS money.

Who has the closed mind here? Who wants to leave things as they are and let them wind up in the toilet? Not me.
