nXP_151 Veteran Posted June 13, 2002 Veteran Share Posted June 13, 2002 I would go with the GeForce 4 ti 4200 64MB.

mAcOdIn Veteran Posted June 13, 2002 Veteran Share Posted June 13, 2002 gf4 ti 4200 stay away from one that has 128mb as I've heard the ram is slower and doesn't make it any better than the 64mb
[F]reelancer X
the radeon 8500 rocks too
frod
stay away from the geforce 4 mx's. out of those choices i'd pick the gf4 ti4200 since it's simply the best card in the list. i have a geforce 3 ti 500 64mb, and i must say i still haven't found a game i couldn't run flawlessy at 1280x1024 with max detail. so it's up to you if you want to spend more money for something better. in my opinion you don't really need anything better than a geforce
Timan Veteran Posted June 13, 2002 Veteran Share Posted June 13, 2002 he said his budget was 150 now 500 lol go with the mx if u have no money and want a decent card but if u want to spend all of it go with the gf 3 ;)
Dessimat0r
A geforce 4 ti4600, pull the money out of thin air, my good man :D
UKer
If you're on a budget the GF3 Ti200s are now getting cheaper and can easily be overclocked to Ti500 speeds with some simple modification. If you can afford one tho get a GF4 4200, don't go near the MX models unless you aren't too bothered about gaming, they don't have all the hardware functions of other GF4s and GF3s
samo123_uk
Im getting a Inno3D Tornado GeForce3 Ti200 128Mb DDR with TV-Out to go with my system upgrade. Is this a good card for gaming? http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/in...0057178dd4f60ac
cibbis
i'd have to say save up your cash and get a PNY GeForce4 Ti4400 card is quite amazing, was just a review of it in Maximum PC too heh they gave it a 9 and there KICK ASS product stamp =) edit= or a Visiontek Xtacy of the same card its a little better cause of the connector array and the video-in/out
adam2001
Stay away from the GF4 MX as they use a more or less completely different core/GPU than the GF4 Ti's. They suck. I have a GF3 Ti200 64MB and it is great.i instantly OC'ed it to 220 core and 480Mhz RAM from the standard 175 core and 400 ram. Its a good little beast. But go for GF4 Ti4200 if anyhting
thingsforjason
4200 baby! GeForce 4 Ti for under 200 bucks! Finally the average folk can get a nice nVidia card without spending the big bucks...that price jump to the 4600 isn't worth it to me for the few extra frames... (it MIGHT be worth it for the 4400, but i already gots me a 4200) :D
JnCoKiLLa
get a GEforce 4 never buy any thing old.....always buy news or you will live to regret it

Redmak Administrators Posted June 14, 2002 Administrators Share Posted June 14, 2002 How come you have to 'stay away' from the gf 4 mx. It's a good card. It's fast, it gives a good quality picture and it's the cheapest card around. I know it's not a gf3 or gf4 but hey compair the prices. I'd say stay away from the 8500 cause it's slower than my gf4 mx (and yes I've seen both cards working on several games) I'm not on a budget but I had some spare change in my pocket and thought what the hell buy an mx until the real thing gets cheaper and I must say I'm very happy with it. If you're on a budget and want a fast card, mx is the way to go (they're less than $100 :p)
Porkey
the problem with the MX's is that there a VERRY cut down version, they dont support DirctX full (aka why u cant get nature game etc in 3d mark) imho the best 'budget' card out at the mo is the ge-force 4 TI 4200 63 MB, not much more then the MX and sh*t loads faster! and it has FULL support for open GL and Direct 8.1! Redmak Administrators Posted June 14, 2002 Administrators Share Posted June 14, 2002 I agree that is a nice card but still a little more than twice the price of an mx (here in holland). + you need good processor to go with a monster card. I read many tests on the gf4 and the general idea is that you need a 1.5GHz+ processor to be able to fully appreciate the cards abillities. Going from a Geforce 256 to an mx was a major improvement for me anyway :p
