AGP card to PCI slot

Recommended Posts

I know the first thing everyone is getting ready to do is flame me as a newbie. Ha ha you are incorrect, I recently read an article in a PC magazine about a new adapter comin out that allows older computers to adapt an agp card and fit it into a pci slot. What I need help with is finding out where I read this since I cant seem to find the magazine anywhere. If someone else read this recently please let me know, and include a website if one was mentioned in the article.

TIA

hmm... i dont think you can... if im not mistaken the purpose of the making of the agp was so that you could achieve significantly higher speeds than the standard PCI...

To me thats like sayin my 56k can get 1mbit download if i get a special 56k modem

AGP to PCI Converter (Warning: Written In Japanese)

It seems that a Japanese company called Kuroutoshikou found a solution to this problem. They have a product called AGP2PCI. The product is a PCI card containing an AGP slot. They claim that you can use most AGP2x based cards in it. According to them you need a (low-profile) AGP-based videocard. Then you need to remove the mounting bracket from the card and next you put the card in the system. After that they claim that the card will work fine using Windows.

I suppose some people with a system that the vendor didn't include an AGP slot in would seriously consider using this if their current video card was too weak to handle gaming or any major 3D applications.

Hell, even people with Socket 7 (not super 7) may use this....

Plus.... I'm sure anyone that doesn't have an AGP slot would rather take AGP2x over PCI :D :D :paranoid: :ponder:
