Good time to buy what with...

well my system specs are in my signature down there... the nec lcd 15" is comming in a few weeks :knocked:

IF I get a gf4ti4400 it will "freak out" cause 1ghz ain't enough to run it at max HOWEVER if I get a new mobo with a athlonxp and ddr ram, I'l be stuck with my gf2mx400 which would give me bs in the games to come.

considering the tight budget I'l have this summer, I won't be able to do both transactions in that periode of 3 months.

The question is what would be wiser to get as soon as possible?

I'm thinking the video card because the new mobos for AMD's don't cost much, and athlonxp cpu's price go down pretty fast so I could get those later...

what you guys think?

thx from advance

not to tell you your business, but considering what you probably spent on the NEC 15 inch LCD, it might have been a bit of a mistake you may/may not have time to correct. CRT monitors, like you probably had before have their faults compared to the razorsharpness of a bright and shiny LCD, but one thing they *do* do well is sharp refresh...while the pixels on your new NEC won't ever flicker due do the "always on unless off" refresh method, they can't change their color as fast as a electron gun can throw electrons at your screen in a CRT resulting in non smeared blurred game play. Maybe LCD's have gotten better than the information I have, but it was a real problem not too long ago. Anyway, with the money you might save from not getting it, you could get both a new Mobo+proc and Vid card.

u are right on that somehow about older LCD's screens having that type of prob, but my bro has the exact same screen, and frankly... playing q3 on it, I don't see any visual problems comparing with my sony trinitron... but my trinitron is having some hardware problems lately, and I'm sick of these old screens with fat asses taking space generating heat and f*kin my eyes.

but thx for the info Morphos :)

for your info they still do it......that why allienware and fallcon north west still don't offer then with there systems at all yet......they still sux and there only 16bit at this ponit.......CRT are 32bit.......and can be moved to 64bit.....just as fast as graphic grade can move them to it........LCDs have been stuck at 16bit now for year and thetre is no sign of them moving into the prest from 16bit days of the P1 166 and before days

nec lcd "15" is 32 bits since I got the same one on my other pc and its at 1024x768x32

oh well, that transaction of the monitor is done, I got a good old garantee if something is wrong for whatsoever reason.

I'm guessing I better get a vid card than new mobo/cpu/ram til now with these opinions
