sphere
ok here goes... i have an Audio Excel AV51xx 6 channel sound card (i know, i know) with the latest drivers for windows xp. I also have some creative 5 pc (2 front, 2 rear, 1 sub) cambridge soundworks speakers. everything is plugged in correctly to the sound card and the speakers (trust me). the problem is i only seem to get sound from the 2 front speakers. i had it working a while ago, but for some reason the 2 rear speakers aren't working. i haven't changed anything at all, and system restore doesn't help. i can get sound from my rear speakers when i use the sound demo which came with my sound card drivers. this simulates surround sound, and everything works perfectly. it's only when i use software other than what came with the drivers (everything in windows), where rear sound doesn't work. in my audio properties i have selected surround sound and also quad speakers but with with no luck. i have everything unmuted and i've been through the options a million times. i have also reinstalled the hardware. this is probably a hard one for people to figure out. i was just looking for anyone who had the same problem. :)
