deck
I've been playing a lot of Tetris recently. I used to play it a lot back when I was a lad...now I'm 23, I'm getting into it again (on my GBA with the Tetris that came with my GameBoy nearly 15 years ago). I must say that I'm way better now than I ever was as a kid. In any case, playing the game prompted to ask the question; what's the highest score you've achieved in Tetris? My most recent high score; Level 15 72939 Points
BroChaos Veteran Posted May 16, 2005 Veteran Share Posted May 16, 2005 hmm, i think all tetris versions are different, i only play the one for NES. i think i've gotten to level 20 or 21... but people have told me that for the GB version, that is impossible. freeza
playing with my cell phone i easily got to level 35 and beyond. it gets boring after a while and with over 100,000 points.
TetrisKid
It's my favorite game of all time (obviously). I have like close to 25 different versions. My favorite is a Korean multiplayer with spells, switch attacks, and crazy blocks... straight up orginal on the GB is great too. Has anybody else ever started to see Tetris shapes in everyday life or in their dreams from playing too much? I started to... it sounds like BS but it's true. Princeton did a study on memory/shape recognition and Tetris a while back. I'll try to find it. EDIT Here it is: Tetris Dreams
deck
I'm playing the GameBoy version. It's dang hard at the upper levels. But at least I got the see the rocket ship again, which I imagine one gets if they break 100,000 points. Level 14 112472 points
Shetland
my bro used to get the rocket ship quite alot, on the original GB tetris (which i still have, with a 1989 original Gameboy) those games are quality, i mean i often play Super Mario Land and Tetris on the GB, i have been playing it quite alot recently, i dont own another handheld gaming console, but even if i did, rarely comes a game you can play 15 years on and its still fun and fresh. XgD
On the oldskool nintendo one, get over 100,000 points (i've only ever done it once, about 6 months ago) and you get this lil rocket animation... tis so strange. Anyway, my best was then - about 165 lines i think. XgD
BroChaos Veteran Posted May 16, 2005 Veteran Share Posted May 16, 2005 why is the GB tetris the original? why not the NES tetris?
Shetland
oh there was a nes version? I am too young to have known the nes properly, by the time i was interested in gaming it was all snes and gb.
deck
why is the GB tetris the original? why not the NES tetris? 585929354[/snapback] Don't quote me on this; but I think that the GB Tetris is considered the 'original' Tetris, because it was in the hands of the GB that is attained its greatest popularity. I know there were previous versions... duh... it was all over the USSR during the mid 80s. I don't know if it came to the NES before the GB, though. Erich
When I was 7 years old I could consistently get to about level 23-25, I doubt I could do that anymore...
Purple Haze
I used to get level 19-20 regularly on my old GB back in 1990, but haven't played much since then.
Erich
Thing is, you would get extra points for holding down, and I always held out for the "Tetris" of 4 at once. But by about level 13 holding down on the controller wouldn't make it go any faster, so you just hold it anyways for the points. It was a good habit to get into. Tha Bloo Monkee
^ lol you posted on a 5 year old thread. I guess my comment doesn't make it much better, just letting you know though. I thought I was pretty decent at Tetris but some of these scores are much higher than me... the NES version is the best!

Haha, I knew it was a moldy post, I could have started a new one, but no one cares about tetris high scores anyway probably. The play control of the Game Boy version is far superior. It is definitely the better version. They had a long interview with the creator of tetris on CBC radio and he it is his favorite version, so there! KiHu
I had this tetris game on my phone (java version..Blue background..dont have it anymore). Used to lay up nights playing it, had a lil competition wtih a school mate like 2 years back. I think I hit around 900k, screwing it up due to some lag(poor phone..running tetris for several hours). My friend hit 1.2 Mil :(

The Teej
Used to play the living hell out of my phone version, Tetris Mania. Actually got to something like 670,000+ after many hours of play time (in one game) and was well on the way to breaking the score counter - but my phone died ;_: I was extremely gutted! Before that it was all about the GB version <
Guyro
try this: freetetris.org/ maybe if we all play that, we could be a bit more universal with our high scores as we cant all find our gb tetris' anymore
