Latest Case Mod

Recommended Posts

My first attempt at a case mod on my Lian-Li case, not bad. The cold cathode sound activated light doesn't do the pic justice. Oh, well. I'll have to order that neon string light and string it somewhere behind the pic. If only I could remember where I saw it at? ;)

yes but do you know where they can custom make like that for the cooler master ATC 210. That is what I have. I don't like the windows kit because of the ugly back gap rubbermate.

thanks

Try a large chain auto parts store.. its used for cars.. you can get it for about $20 US

It's a decal from a car shop thats in most malls. Thanks for the links to the string lights. I'll have to decide which strings to pick up. I just wish they were local.

I have to post a new picture, I mounted the cathode vertical. It shows off inside of the case really nice, the decal stands out more. It used to just light up the bottom half of the case. :D

razorback clean up that case, if you dont get some rounded ide's then fold them out of the way and even behind the mobo. deconstruct your whole comp and rewire it while watching the simpsons or something, it will be well worth it especially since you have a window. Skull leader looks awesome and so does the window and the cathode keep up the good work. and keep posting pics looks awesome.

Except for the one that connects my Audigy Live Drive to the sound card. That I'm not too sure what to do with, it looks like a regular IDE cable. I don't want to mess with that one cable. I guess I could try swapping it with an IDE cable just for the heck of it, see if it works.

It's a decal from those places in the malls that carry car accessories.

i have the audigy drive too, that one perfectly tucks perfectly behind the mobo, if i have time i will post some pics tonight...on how i tucked it, there is a way you can fold the flat IDE's at 45 degree angles and they just tuck away, i also passed the firewire cord behind the mobo. and i ran my CD audio support back there. the only thing that bugs me is the usb that plucs into the mobo it is right in the way its a clean little fat gray cable but it hinders the view of some empty pci slots. i think the best option with that is to remove it since i dont use that much USB support. I just did my first real case mod to my comp today and im letting the paint dry ont he side.

I kinda scorched the paint whilst i was cutting the window hole so i had to paint it and only had rustoleum black gloss, so i figured thats a nice neutral color and i got some nice plexy and mounting screws/bolts at home depot. Used some finish washers and as soon as the paint sets im gonne use some 2part epoxy to set the window in place and reduce rattle and create an airtight seal. gotta goto class. Later!

ok here are the pics i just finished the mod got back from class. ok so basically i cut a square hole and bolted the window on usesd some epoxy to keep air tight and to keep it solid. believe it or not 10 bolts creates a little creaking still. I am very pleased witht he paint job, the picture doesnt due it justice, it looks like it was supposed to be black and it has the stock texture even. I just used alcohol and stripped the paint down a little and then put like 5 coats of black rustoleum. I cracked the plexi when bolting it on, when i get more time, prolly at the end of summer i will recut another peice and bolt it in, however this is fine for now, i nicked the paint a little when clamping the plexi in place to drill the holes i think a sharpie will fix tht as soon as the paint settles and stops feeling like a skin. Last time i painted a case i used rustoleum and sanded it smooth, it looked weird and had all kinds of finger prints this is why i elected to keept hje texture. i am very pleased with this first mod. Now to get some incense and stick it in front of my intake and see the flow of the air and see where it hangs. i have a feeling over the hard drive and in the 5.25 bays, but we will see. well TTYL and hope the second pic helped you figure out how to route the wires. Good luck and happy moding.

So I tried to hide the ribbon cable, snaked it behind the motherboard, works like a charm. Took another picture, still doesn't do it justice, but looks better now. Still needs work, I think either one more cold cathode on the right side or string light going behind. Choices. :(
