Riker
And the IMO the k6-2 500 is faster, due it being 100mhz fsb, where as the celery 433 is only 66. But the 500 does put out a little more heat, so its up to you really. But if it was me, id be using the 500, both suck for games, but id still take the 500. lecter
I would keep the Celeron if I were u. But another important issue is what mobo u have the two on. If one of them is made on a ship and the other is brand-name, keep the brand-name one. If the mobos are of equal quality, Celeron is better, it works with fewer problems. Qba73
The K6 is an overall better chip, but the celeron has better stability and overclocking potential, k6 has potential too but runs too damn hot.
SimGuy
I ran a few K6, K6-2 and K6-3 systems without a hitch, so I have no problem recommending the K6-2 500. It's very important that you keep that CPU cooled and your case well ventilated if you are going to use an AMD K6 series of processor. It's also important that you get a brand name motherboard. I found that out the hard way :) A motherboard from Abit, Asus, Tyan, MyComp or GigaByte are usually good bets for the Super Socket 7 platform.
