I use Ad-Blocking, Pop-Up Blocking, spyware/adware/malware/ect ect ect blocking.

I don't pay 60 a month for Comcast High-Speed to have to deal with all kinds of crap.

I got a tip for those worried about supporting the site they like (ie neowin). If you use adblock for Firefox, there is an option to "hide ads" as opposed to remove them. They will be downloaded and then hidden from your view. If you never click on the ads, it's the same thing. Then once in a while you can disable adblock and click on a few ads on sites you want to support.

I block ads as well because they are annoying to me like the big glowing ones and ones similar however i don't mind the google ads at all as they arn't "in your face" to me they arn't anyhow.

You're not giving money unless you click the ads anyway. Just displaying the ads gets Neowin nothing.

Well, I don't feel bad about adblocking. I'm just putting less of a load on their servers, my bandwidth and my PC.

Although, by almost totally avoiding ads, I've had to start asking other people about what new products there are out there. I've also noticed that I have to resort to a blank stare when people start talking about that recent tv or something ad for some pill or something. Yeah.

I'm really not in mainstream american culture anymore.

Oh, and it makes my browsing like 20-30% faster.

I don't think it's stealing to block ads, since most services only pay if visitors click on the ad, but I do think it's my right to choose which pixels display on my screen. I'm happy to support sites in other ways (i.e. subscribing to Neowin), but I dislike in-your-face banner ads.

On another note, I enjoy Google Ads because it shows things related to the topic of the site -- sometimes I even click on a few. ;)

Ad Block mentioned is an improved version of the oldie - whitelistning per site and more is finally here - end of debate. Now you can reward sites or the opposite. Get latest dev. version here http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=266291 Also possible to download all ads but still hide them - opposite default of not downloading at all.

For me, and most others from what I have noticed, Adblock Plus is just as stable as original. Author will not add more features he says, only make it more solid and compatible. Sweet.

EDIT: Now I see IceDogg was refering to "old" Adblock not this new Plus version. Well this is better...

I've always blocked ads, I have no intention to ever buy from adverts so I choose not to see them.

I simply use a massive .hosts file with known adverts which means not only is my web browsing faster but pages look better.

If anyone thinks I'm stealing business, then they're pretty stupid.

no- its stealing if you block.

Ad's are stealing my bandwith, wich I pay for, and it slows down the loading speeds of the website, if I don't block the ad's on neowin takes more then a minute to load.

It is MY computer and MY connection and I do whatever I want to see on MY screen NOT what others wants me to see. I block ad's with love wich increases the speed of loading websites and increases the pleasure of browsing websites. :woot:
