Canon Scanner & XP

Recommended Posts

I got a new scanner, and just decided to test it today. I hooked it up (noted that its Windows XP Compatible, in large BOLD letters on the box). Attached it to the PC, turned it on, after installing the drivers i was informed my HUB needed its own power supply as it was running low. Thats good then as i have the power lead and i plugged it in. Reboot later and its happy and working. Click the scan button and it scans in the office document scanner thingamy.

However it does not show up in 'My Computer' like my Logitech Cam does (noted it says Scanners & Camera's) nor does it work when i run the scanner & camera wizard. Says there is no scanner connected. :right:

*Note how it only detects the camera durning the wizard and gives me no choice (or an error about nothing being connected if the cam is not there) of device. Also you can see it not showing up in My Computer. Im just annoyed as it boasted being FULLY Windows XP Complient. No dodgy 'after thought' sticker on the box.*

The drivers are made for XP.... so why is it not fully functional with the rest of the OS?

*edit* its in my sig the model, Canon CanoScan N1240U. :)
