tab mix question

Recommended Posts

im currently using TBE as its the only way to get everything i want without half a dozen extensions or lots of messing around with about:config but recently someone told me about tab mix but i cant seem to find out exactly what features it has (the homepage is down) and the mozilla forums thread doesnt seem to be much help either, does anyone have a link to a full feature list or maybe a few screenshots of its config section?

if you want to know how to change the options:

tools>extensions

click tab mix

click options

for the full feature list you'll have to look on the official site which seems to be down atm.

not bad at all, thanks for that image xinok you got me to switch. the only feature i really miss is the list of recently closed tabs (unless im missing something) does anyone know of anything that offers the same in a small stable extension?

when i try to enable the "Single Window Mode" it turns itself off each time firefox is restarted, this is quite annoying as external links (for example mirc or searches from foo_web) are opened in a new window rather than in a tab. does anyone know what i am doing wrong?

Enable it by typing 'about:config' in the address bar, type 'single' in the filter, you'll see a line 'browser.tabs.showSingleWindowModePrefs', double click line to toggle to 'true'. Don't know why it doesn't work via Tab Mix though, strange.

i tried that but i still get multiple windows, i also found the tabmix setting for single window mode in about:config but setting it to true gives the same result as setting it in the options.

Have you got any other tab browsing extensions installed that may be conflicting?

Tab Mix 2.1, latest version.

You may even have a corrupted profile. Try creating a new profile, install Tab Mix, close and restart Firefox and then select the options you require and check the functionality, I can't see why it shouldn't work.

ah i found the option, it was in firefox's options>advanced under tabbed browsing and it gives you the option of what to do with external links, now the single window setting will stay ticked in tab mix.

Glad it wasn't anything too painful Waylander! I'd forgot about that in the options menu.

Thanks for the link to a different version of Tab Mix gur713, I'll take it for a spin!
