Woman Sues Yahoo Over Nude Photos

Recommended Posts

lmao I love this story

A woman sued Yahoo Inc. for $3 million, alleging the Internet site failed to fulfill a promise to remove nude pictures of her from the Web.

Cecilia Barnes, 48, in a lawsuit filed Tuesday in Multnomah County, claims an ex-boyfriend began posting unauthorized personal profiles of her containing the photos in December. The profiles included her e-mail address and work phone number.

The former boyfriend also engaged in online discussions in Yahoo chat rooms while posing as Barnes and directing men to the profiles, the lawsuit claims.

"Due to these profiles and online chats, unknown men would arrive without warning at plaintiff's work expecting to engage in sexual relations with her," the lawsuit claims.

Barnes sent Yahoo a letter in January saying she did not create the profiles and wanted them removed. Additional attempts to get Yahoo to remove them in February and March did not get a response, the lawsuit claims.

A Yahoo spokeswoman declined to comment, saying the company does not comment on pending litigation.

I had an internet stalker once who was making copy profiles of me and putting fake pics on them and all. Yahoo never took care of things despite repeated contacts with them. So I'm not surprised they did this anyway, unfortunately.

Strange, I always found Yahoo, Inc to act promptly when I had a few issues regarding a website hosted with them, and some fake profiles/members/bots.

It was removed fully, with no back within 17 hours, Haha, the owner was so ****ed :D

People seem to forget it's the information age . you are not some person behind a computer screen. your name, address, phone number, where you work, bank, etc etc are easy to get. the sooner people learn that the better off they will be.

i wonder why she let her ex-boyfriend take those pictures, at the first place....

Probably when they were still together. A lot of couples have nude pictures of each other. Not very bright, but it's common...

I hate to state the obvious, but he probably wasn't an ex-boyfriend at the time.

They were being intimate, having a little fun, he just kept the pics long afterwards.

I don't think that's uncommon.

Not many people expect their loved ones to be ######.

In a relationship, you come to trust people, especially ones you'll get naked for.

Perhaps she cheated on him, and then came a messy break-up.

Google is teh l33t. :D

Back on topic, this is how a conversation between the judge and the plaintiff should go:

Judge: So you let your ex-boyfriend take nude photos of you, and when you ended the relationship, you did not ask for them back?

Plaintiff: No.

Judge: And your boyfriend posted them online, and posed as you online, not someone working for Yahoo?

Plaintiff: That is correct.

Judge: Well it looks like you're suing the wrong person because you feel bad about being a filthy tramp, and now everyone knows just how filthy you are! Case DISMISSED!
