Koding
I just bought 2 new Dell's and they both came with 56K modems. They aren't being used and when I get a chance, both will be removed.

L3thal Veteran Posted May 28, 2005 Veteran Share Posted May 28, 2005 No reason for taking it out even though you may not use it. Remember, if for some reason you lose broadband service for a few days due to outages, you always have dial up.

Toastyone
Yeah all my computers have one built in the motherboard, and I have two PCI ones that are sitting around, I have only been on DSL for about 10 months so I used to use them
Shane Pitman
The only modems that I still own are a few old, I mean REALLY old modems in some ancient PC's that I have shelved, and a couple of USR Courier v.everything modems that I used back in the day. Man oh man if those modems could talk. :p

Lee G. Veteran Posted May 29, 2005 Veteran Share Posted May 29, 2005 I have 4: One in my Gateway 2000 333MHz One in my NEC Powermate One in my HP/Compaq laptop One in my Dell Inspiron 1150 None are in use. My Dell Inspiron 56k modem is only used when Broadband is down - which is extremely rare. I have a 600KBs Broadband Router - my Dell Inspiron and NEC Powermate are connected to that.
