AOL Explorer

Anyone use the AOL Explorer yet? I'm using it now to test and seems good... I'm no expert but it loaded Neowin in just under 3 seconds.... Any ideas on this Browser???

I've tried out the AOL Browser just out of curiousity. And here's my very short summarized thoughts about it.

Visually, it appeals to me. It has a nice clearly built layout, and it's got some nice visual features.

As far as operation goes, it's fairly fast at rendering and it displays most webpages appropriately.

Unfortanetly, I noticed a horrible slowdown in my boot up time. Went through my services, and saw that several AOL services had been installed, and if you look in your Task Manager those services tend to eat up a lot of resources. Close to 120MB memory usage for me.

It's a nice browser, but why does it need multiple services to run? Also, why do the services need that many resources? Unfortanetly, I rate it a (N) because of that.

I second that.. I too have noticed a lot more resources being used and a lot of extra services running for AOL..... Who know's what they are.. if anyone in here know's please explain!!! Thanks.... and so far other than that I see nothing wrong with it.. It even shows a thumbnail of the page each tab is @.... Nice!!!

I also noticed this... LOL....See image

I have no idea what's funny about that screenshot, but ok.

Anyway, I find the browser to be an excellent piece of software that puts many other IE shells to shame. However, those damn services are it's downfall. I know it's been said that the services will be cut back on Triton, so maybe the same is true for the browser end of things too.

To me, it just sounds like IE with tabs and a really nice look. Is that correct?

and additional features such as quick one click access to turn on/off activex and javascript, built in whois querying, and a few more things. If it didn't need all those processed, it would be a kickass browser.

its nothing very special, i tried it for a few days, didnt like it. it has nothing firefox or opera doesnt have... well except for that thumbnail tab previews...

i kept getting pages without images where there are supposed to be images, i dunno if it mistook them for ads or what... but i really didnt like that....

and btw... try searching before you post, there is already a thread with the SAME TITLE a few down from this one...
