sphere
has anyone had trouble with sound coming from the rear speakers in a 5pc system? i had it working b4, and now it's stuffed. i've tried every driver version and windows setting (sound and audio properties) and the cable plugs (green & black), but the b******s aren't doing sh*t. i have an audio excel 5.1 6 channel sound card, with creative soundworks 5pc speaker system. (which i have) i also read the help and it said to 'click' the 4 speaker button on the audio settings that came with the card (there was a screenshot). the problem is there is no 4 speaker button (yeeesh!).:ponder: i had it working before with the same settings, even when there was no '4 speaker' button. i have two sets of drivers to play sound. i have my sound card drivers (audio excel), and also C-Media 8738 drivers (that's what shows up in hardware devices). what's the deal? Roger H. Veteran Posted June 17, 2002 Veteran Share Posted June 17, 2002 well i had a SB Live 5.1 Sound card and the Creative Inspire 5300s and i used the Windows XP settings to get that to work in full 5.1 (even for games) I have the Abit Max AT7 board now with that realtek chip and i do the samething (sound and audio properties) and it works just beautiful just the same. I love this thing and now with the realtek chip, even MP3s play in 5.1 audio! Take that SB Live, it only played them in 4.1 so ha! (and yeah, it's the same mp3s i used) I've heard alot of people saying that the speaker setting in XP don't work but like 90% of them were using the SB Live VALUE card and there's where they already went wrong. I got my SB Live 5.1 Digital Entertainment card (OEM) for $40. It's the same card that comes in the Platinum box but just without the Live! Drive. I say spend wisely and read up before your purchase. Alot of people only buy stuff cuz it's new and supposedly better but alot of the times the better stuff wont help the average joe.
