BananaMan
Hey guys, I'm building a new PC at the moment, here are the vague specs: AMD Athlon XP 1800+ Entry-level mobo that supports DDR 512 DDR RAM Geforce 4 Ti4200 Hercules Muse XL (salvaged from current PC) 7200rpm 40 gig HD Lifeview Flyvideo 98 II (salvaged) Pioneer DVD-ROM (salvaged) Diamond Data 30x6x4 burner (salvaged) Good ol' retro floppy drive What kind of PSU am I looking at here? I'm looking for the minimum, but not too minimum, if that makes any sense. Betterly phrased, what kind of PSU am I looking at if I want to keep the cost down but still want to be in a safe area where issues won't rise due to power supply problems. My guess was about a 350w, but I'm not basing this on any actual experience, just an educated guess, so I figured it might be a smart idea to ask. Thanks guys! Fedr0
300 watts should be enough for it, but I suggest you to get a 430 watts PSU, they should cost around 15-20 bucks more than the 300.
Beastage
I agree go with 400+ PSU , especially those with dual-fans (intake-outake) like enermax

What's the advantages of a dual-fanned PSU? Cooling isn't critical to me since I don't plan on overclocking or doing anything else colourful with the PC (eg. case mods), is a dual-fanned PSU still useful over a single fan PSU? Thanks again! Beastage
Good cooling is good not only for overclocking but also for system stabilty , U have a fast CPU and good amount of memory which cuz lots of heat and dont forget that heat goes up so a dual-fan CPU will help alot btw enermax are just an example , I would choose the cheaper one too
