protoss_chaos
eh, i like both, just a matter of preference. Cleartype looks better on some monitors, where as it hurts my eyes on others... you never know.

Raditz
On my monitor, without cleartype i can barely see the text. Cleartype ROCKS. Makes the text very smooth.
rvbfan
I prefer clear type. It's easier on my eyes with the higher resolutions and brightness of my LCD.

Caleo Global Moderator Posted June 1, 2005 Author Global Moderator Share Posted June 1, 2005 I dislike it because I prefer sharp, non-blurry text. I just cannot stand it. I like using small fonts, so cleartype makes them very difficult to read.

Sarm
Cleartype OFF !!!!! I did a survey on this a few years ago on 40 people, only 5 preferred it. What was interesting was at first half preferred it, after a day and I switched them back they agreed WITHOUT ClearType was better. You have to ask yourself, why did Microsoft have this option built in as standard on XP, but it's NOT switched on! (although on some laptops it seems to be on by default possibly because of the LCD screen not being as good as a CRT) I think they come to the same conclusion. At the end of the day, personal preference, monitor quality and eyesight all play a part.

Julius Caro
Both ways are sharp in some way... but I prefer non-cleartype. If I had to choose one, that's ubuntu default font configuration... now that looks good! (Sux on most websites, but it's quite powerful at font rendering anyway)
