trigger_my_passion
My friend ran Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D and MS Antispyware but to no avail. Notice the tabs at the top and the bar at the bottom...how to get rid of it? any ideas?
Jayzee
HijackThis would do the trick!
Caledai
First, Look for an uninstall in add/remove programs. Hotbar, Toolbar, mySearch any variant of these or app you don't recognise is likely to be the cause. Given that it provides search capabilities, is will prob have search in the name. Do this before Hijack This, as Hijack This, removes entries - but the files remain...

All files placed in C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3 have been developed by myself and are all specific to Messenger Plus!. For those who choose to support me by installing the optional sponsor program, the setup file is placed in C:\Program Files\C2Media and its only purpose is to allow proper uninstallation of the sponsor program if you want to remove it at some point. +Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted June 3, 2005 Subscriber² Share Posted June 3, 2005 Why would you want to get rid of it? Look at all the useful links it provides - that's some mean functionality. Heck, bet it'll even open some browser dialogs without you even asking it - that's just so damned useful ;) Ad-Aware!
Makeshift Hammer
Everyone harps on about the lack of tabbed browsing in I.E, you get it and complain :| how ungrateful :| :D
angusmann
It has already been noted that Microsoft Messenger Plus bundles this crap with it. I forget the names of the software but the saving grace is that you CAN remove them quite easily using the control panel's remove software feature. Just scan what is listed there and it should be obvious. If I recall right, you have to remove 2 separate programs.

JkFliPflOp
Run these antispyware proggies: CCleaner CWShredder Ad-aware, Spybot, MS antispy (which you said you already ran) Then install: SpywareBlaster
metro
Pretty sad that people need to run up to 6 different spyware applications to clean junk off of the system. I for one, am sick of having 4 different BG processes to monitor for stuff. It would be nice if one company would get on the ball and be able to cover everything so I don't bloat my system to keep my personal info safe from ######. Axel
If that came from messenger plus! Simply uninstalling messenger plus! and then reinstalling it without accepting the advertising program this time should do the trick.

rmilling
There is a "trick" question in the Installation of MGSPlus. If you select YES it is not to agree with a license agreement but to agree to install the sponser poop. If MSGPlus is installed, ununstall it, reboot and then re-install and say NO the the sponser stuff. If not download and run HijackThis. It will help you remofe the registry entries that add the toolbar etc. Run AdAware at the end to be sure there is no more kaka! Hope this helped
Slimy
Run these antispyware proggies:CCleaner 586009696[/snapback] how is ccleaner an antispyware proggie? :pinch: for protection: install winpatrol+spywareblaster but i agree with the rest of the guys, get hijackthis and post a log (or delete the junk yourself if you know what)
NeoXY
if you did get this with MSGPlus...than first REINSTALL it WITH the spyware. That way, you can be sure when you uninstall again, the spyware will not give you problem because of missing files that could have been deleted by your anti-spyware programs...after you've done that, go to add or remove and remove MSGplus. While that is happening, a confirm window will come up saying are you sure you want to remove all the ad stuff....just click yes and it'll be ok...;)
