Can I password-protect my FF profile?

Recommended Posts

Normally, only you can access your profile folder, since the profile is maintained under your account on XP. Just create different accounts for different users.

Other than that, no, due to the nature of your profile, securing the folder would be difficult, as using Firefox requires read/write access to that folder.

Well that's too bad. I found out my little bro and sis have been snooping around my emails and friendster and forums. I can choose not to let FF remember the passwords to those sites so that they cant enter the sites, but thats too much of a hassle.

maybe you could move your profile somewhere hidden when your not using it, then move it back when you do

...or something :/

Doesn't Firefox ask for a master password every session when the password manager is used for the first time?

Tools > Options > Privacy > Passwords

Try pounding your Brother and Sister into a small pulp that will stain the living room carpet. That will get them to stop and make them not do it again =)

But yeah I have had to password protect my computer (login/screensaver) because I don't want to have to enter a mater pass everytime! That is the only down side in my opinion about Firefox (the password issue).

I would have resorted to beating em to a pulp if not for you! This is perfect. Its stated its easy to bypass but with my siblings being computer illiterate, this is an obstacle they wont get past, at least for the next few years.

Thanks everyone!
