autodefe
Just an idea I thought of... we have FTP client exensions and IRC chat client extensions, so why can't we have an extension that handles BitTorrent downloads? Azureus is great and all but I can't use it on my old laptop. Just a thought :D EDIT: I kinda figured it's already been thought of, and in fact it has: A work in progess - http://moztorrent.mozdev.org/
oldaccount1
This was brought up before and I agree completely. This would be brilliant.

CrisCr0ss
dieing in the illegal warez download world :ninja: :shifty: 586011161 That is probably the most Ignorant Comment i have heard in a while. If you look closely since SuperNova went down 50 other sites opened up, when EliteTorrents went down 20 more arose from the ashes, im not a warez supporter but Warez is something that cannot be fixed. For as long as their are computer intelects who crack, their will always be warez.
autodefe
*ahem* Allow me to interject. Not all BT transfers are meant for illegal purposes! and it's spelled DYING :)
Fotix
I wouldn't mind to see it become a part of web browsers like Firefox, Opera, and Internet Explorer (ah, who am I kidding) so that it will be given more legitimacy as a technology like RSS/XML, HTTP, FTP, and the rest of the buzzwords and acronyms. +Xinok Subscriber² Posted June 3, 2005 Subscriber² Share Posted June 3, 2005 This sounds like a great idea, but I would be worried about the security issues. Just consider this: - When you first start downloading a torrent, the tracker gives you a nice list of IP addresses of possibly vulnerable machines. - The new decentralization capabilities just adds to the list of IPs. - By default, Bittorrent reports which client you are using to each peer. This just makes it easier to find vulnerable machines. - A lot of people open the ports on their firewalls, which would make it even easier to infect some peers. Really, I'm suprised I haven't heard of anything exploiting Bittorrent yet :ninja:
IceDogg
*ahem* Allow me to interject. Not all BT transfers are meant for illegal purposes! and it's spelled DYING :) 586012087 You are right, I used the wrong spelling. I use spell checker because my spelling is so bad, but it didn't catch that because there is a spelling that matches. Thanks for pointing that out. btw, I'm not against BT I just was saying that everyone had said it was DYING. Others opinions not mine. Get it? It was kind of sarcasm. I don't know either way, I don't use it.
edgefield
I checked this out, and its ner impossible as a pure extension. A client cannot be built with xul. One way round this would be to have a run time environment (BT) and then have the xul extension be its gui.
