question about winamp 3...

Question

ive decided to use this as im quite annoyed with all the skipping thats going on when i listen to mp3s. im trying to narrow down the prob...if its the audigy card etc...no probs when playing games though in 98. anyway, is there a way to make the playlist not show the full path. its silly that its like that...i cant see the name and i dont feel like stretching the playlist.

This is beta software, use it at your own risk. btw RC1 has been released check out the software main page.

saintdark you have an audigy card?

this is what creative is telling me to do...

Andres,

Try to change the IRQ for PCI audio card. The IRQ for PCI cards can only be adjusted at the BIOS level; it can not be changed in the Operating System. You may need to contact the computer manufacturer to make the necessary changes. In some systems, if you put the PCI card in a different slot, you can force the BIOS to update the ESCD and change the IRQ. You can try swapping slots with the video card. This will force the bios to update the ESCD and reassign IRQs.

If that does not help, you can turn down video acceleration.

1. Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System

2. Click on the Performance tab, then click the Graphics button and then move the Hardware Acceleration meter one notch to the left.

You can also change the Display adapter to the Standard VGA, so try the following steps (be sure to write the make / model number of the current display adapter before you make the changes). If the Sound Blaster is working fine under the standard VGA mode, I would suggest you update your video drivers.

1. Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Display

2. Select Settings.

3. Choose either Advanced or Change Display Type.

4. Go to Change and select Show All Devices.

5. Write down the specific name of the current display adapter.

6. Go to Standard Display Types at the top of the list of Manufacturers.

7. Select Standard VGA for the Model.

8. Install the driver.

9. Restart the computer.

You can also try disable PCI Streaming (may be called PCI Bursting) in the BIOS. The PCI Concurrency or PCI Latency settings may also alleviate choppy audio.

whether this fixes things i dont know...i havent gotten a chance to fiddle with things.

man it is the audigy card that skipss. My mp3s were so nice than i got an audigy card and the MP3s started to skip. they dont skip in the games just in mp3 because creative sux when it comes to drivers. They couldnt solve this issue. I am listening mp3s and they allways skip. I called creative and did things they wanted me to but nuthing really happened. Same problems started to occur. I dont know why the hell it does this...
