Crazy Frog faces complaints, death threat song

Recommended Posts

It might be driving much of Britain mad but the Crazy Frog mobile phone ring tone topped the UK pop charts for a second week, the Official UK Charts Company said on Sunday.

Last week Crazy Frog's take on Axel F - the theme tune to the Beverly Hills Cop movie - became the first ring tone to reach number one when it went on sale as a CD.

Some Britons love the Crazy Frog's distractingly catchy "B-ding ding dididing..." tune and the animated frog wearing a broad smile that accompanies it on videos and TV adverts.

But just as many find them unbearably irritating.

On Thursday the Advertising Standards Authority watchdog said it had received 800 complaints about the ads.

"People say they are on too often and they want it to be taken off screen because it is driving them mad," said the watchdog, which earlier in the year received complaints from viewers who objected to the frog's visible genitalia.

The animosity has even led to the making of a new single Kill the Frog by Frog Must Die, which is due to be released later this month.

The ASA only has the power to remove adverts that contain questionable content, it cant do anything to ads that some people complain are on too much.

Im in Australia and if u stay up until like 12 at night, it is FULL with cr.p adverts for phones. Like sms the word ..... and get a free ring tone etc....about every 2nd advert is one of them and in between that is the MAX Value Phone deal advert...it is beyond a joke!!! and the worse thing is, if u read the fine print on the adverts, it says u have to pay every month! and it does not tell u how u can stop it!!!

Maybe someone should mess with the advert file so they remove the black box around it's private parts - then they could take it off  :p

I really hate the thing, and as _fOoL_ has just said it's the chavs of the country who are buying it and keeping the frigging thing going; it's real torture when you're watching television and in the space of a three-minute advert break you see the advert for it (By Jamster Ring tones) at least three times.

EDIT: And where have all these chavs come from; i'm pretty sure Britain didn't have them that long ago (or at least not that many); have they been in hiding up until now or have I just failed to notice them?

It originally was heard MANY years ago on Formula 1. One of the presenters thought it was quite funny...and it was, because it was only played ONCE and forgotten about for all these years (probably about 6-7 years!). And now the chavs have destroyed something that was funny and pure because it was rare...bloody chavs!

there wouldn't be so many complaints if they stopped showing the damm thing every coupe of minutes, u watch channels like E4, MTV, and other music channels and there on every other program or music video, it takes the ****, you might as well call it JMC (Jamster Music Channel)
