eXsub
I'm judging the morals of todays society. Whether you like it or not, its how the world is. Don't like to hit a girl, but we can shoot them with a tazer which is much more painful than forcefully removing her from the vehicle. If I was an officer, I'd use a tazer as a last resort, not a DO THIS OR I WILL JACK YOUR **** UP IMMEDIATELY tool. 586036250 She was stupud and ignorent - she didn't do as he told her, therefore she needs to put up with the consiqunces. it's as simple as that. jak0bk
She deserved it. I've been tazed for a "Failure to Comply"... which is what he tazed her for. It is very painful, but when an officer tells you to do something after you've already accumulated so many points against you, you should probably do it. EDIT: Getting tazed only hurts for about 3 or 4 minutes afterwards. After that, you just kind of feel light headed for 45 minutes. Sometimes you can have a severe headache (like me), but it only lasted like 20 minutes. I'm glad that cop didn't come down on me with his night stick. I'd be in a world of pain had that happened. I'd prefer to be tazed rather than clubbed. You should try both and see which you like. You're ignorant. Chicane-UK Veteran Posted June 8, 2005 Veteran Share Posted June 8, 2005 Sorry but she had what was coming to her. He tried to be patient, and she was breaking the law in a number of different ways. Whenever I deal with the police (and admittedly thats only ever been twice) I do as they ask me, and co-operate without any kinds of attitude or bull$hit. I've never come to blows.. its not exactly rocket science is it.

She wasn't hurt. She'll probably be at home, bitching about it on her cellphone later that night. You think two grown men attempting to physically restrain her, rolling around on the pavement and gravel, forcing her arms behind her back, the whole while they are on top of her, is somehow more fun than being zapped for a few seconds so you can't move and make your situation horribly worse than it could have been? Or maybe if she got really physically resistant to the point where they pulled out their ASP batons...broken bones are better too, right? Or possibly a concussion. Yeah, potential braindamage is not near as bad as a few seconds of discomfort. Get a clue. I think some people just look for an excuse to whine about the police. BrentNewbury
I think the police officers were totally wrong to use the taser gun on her. They could've used force, dragged her out if necessary, but not using a taser gun. They do more damage to the human brain than a heavy night of drinking. Hence the bloody headache people complain about. It's your brain telling you that somethings not right. When will police officers learn that this weapon should only be used for defence! - Brent
theyarecomingforyou
She definitely deserved it... I certainly wouldn't refuse to get out a vehicle at the first time, let alone after being threatened repeatedly with a taser. You can diagree and dislike with the police all you want (I certainly do, after repeatedly poor and biased service from them) but you do not refuse a demand like that, particularly as the demand was an obvious requirement (for driving on a suspended licence; heck, she should have been tased for that alone!). jak0bk
The reason that tazers don't really kill you is because they apply a small amount of amps. You can take many, many volts of electricity before you die. Tazers run on DC which generally provides a small amount of amps. The more amps you get, the closer you come to dying. That's why you can only take 220 volts AC out of a wall socket and you can take a 500,000 volt DC stun gun shock and survive. Get your facts straight. You get a headache because most of the water in your brain is removed by the electricity, not because it's been burnt. EDIT: Maybe I'll get my facts straight. Stun guns are low current whereas AC is high current. That's another reason AC is more dangerous than DC. Edited June 8, 2005 by jak0bk

Pulling someone out of an SUV like that is not an easy task, and if the car was running she may have put it into drive and hit the gas. Do you have an article or something that proves tasers cause damage to the brain? Just wondering, google didn't bring anything relevant up on that. So I think the woman got what she deserved. Shouldn't have been driving in a damaged car with a suspended license in the first place, let alone speeding.

Sorry to disprove your expert medical opinion.
redFX
All those who agree she should have been tazered, do you think she should have been tazered twice? After the first one, she was flat on the floor stunned. There was no need to juice her again.

MjolnirMan
Only in certain states. New York requires headset use, many other area states don't. Nice little chart of country and state laws regarding cell phone use while driving. EDIT: The tazer was invented so physical force wouldn't have to be used and so suspects could be disabled without any kind of lasting damage. Given the situation and the obstinant nature of the illegal driver, I think the police were perfectly within their rights to use a zap gun. jackwanders
While I think she should have complied with the officer, we can't forget that the police are not above the law.Sure, she might be an idiot for not complying, but she was obviously no threat to them. They could've handled it better, by far. 586034150 What part of what you saw convinced you that she was obviously no threat to them? Just curious, because to a cop, no one is obviously not a threat. If their trying to arrest you, you are a threat. You never know what someone (especially someone like her) will do. She could have very easily tried to flee, possible hitting a cop trying to spin the SUV around. She could have had a gun or a knife in the center console or in a glove-box. You can't say she wasn't a threat.

Let's just tazer everybody then. I'm sorry, but to skip right to the point, I don't think that if she was a white woman that she would have been tazered even once, nevermind twice. MjolnirMan
I agree with your last statement, but for a slightly different reason than the one you intended. Apropos, I am shocked (pardon the expression) to see how many people throughout the thread stated something like "why couldn't they have just hauled her out of the car? a bruise or two is better than a TAZER!" Now, I don't know how many of you know how a tazer works (besides Jack31081), but just so you know it doesn't physically electrocute a person, like dropping a plugged-in appliance in an occupied bathtub would. It's designed as a non-lethal suppression tool for police, and all it does is make suspects slightly easier to deal with. This woman was driving an SUV with an invalid license, and that wasn't even on the long list of reasons she was pulled over. One way or another, she was getting out of that vehicle, and the police chose the least harmful way of doing so considering that she was a total lunatic.
