I recently built my new comp.. and everytime I play a game I get this little pause in it.. It last for about 1sec then it stops and goes back to normal for 2secs then pauses again for a sec....etc

even in screensavers..... it does the same thing

How do I go about fixing this prob?..I took out my soundcard and nic card...that didn't help I moved them to different slots ..that didn't work...I updated the bois put in the 4 in 1 via drivers...I have no clue what to do..I even took out the vid card and tried my other vid card (matrox g450etv 32MB DDR ) and it did the same thing...so right now I took out both cards and I'm just using this (ATI rage 128 16MB) it's doing the same thing also.. but just not as bad....

Try it without those applications running, if you are one of those paranoid people, feel free to disconnect from the internet prior to doing this.

Sometimes real time scanners and other applications that run in certain intervals will cause slowdowns.

Have you got Rivatuner (or another geforce tweaker) if you have then check whether it's (the card) is running FSAA, AGP or PCI mode, etc and then we might have a better idea where the problem lies?

IRQ 5 Magnum/Xpert128/X99/Xpert2000

IRQ 5 Creative SB Live! series(WDM)

IRQ 5 VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controller

IRQ 5 VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controller

Here's the problem. The 5th interrupt is conflicting with your usb root controller and with your soundcard.

In your bios there should be under the pci options a voice called Plug and Play OS. Select yes. Plus, let the bios assign the devices and don't set it to manual.

And, listen to me and not to what other people are saying, the GF2 MX is a great card.
