Aol 8.0 interfereing with Msn messanger

Question

My friend uses aol 8.0...(i know i know, but it came with the computer his parents got from gateway) he is not very computer literate... and i have no idea what to do in this case. the problem is when he connects using aol, he cannot use msn messanger, or even IE... i am sure it has to do with selfish aol blocking ports, so when i ran trillian on his comp, and connected the aim client it worked fine.. the msn one still failed.. so i changed the port msn runs through, to the one that aim runs through... still failed connection... he would really like to use msn, and such so i was wondering if there was any way to make this work.. Thanks in advance....

i have heard of problems like this in previous versions as well though... so i think it has to do with them blocking ports or something.. maybe i am wrong... we can always try the contact aol thing... but if anyone else has answers, they are welcome

i dunno what to do... but look... isn't MSN cheaper than AOL??? why's everyont using that crap AOL, damn, no wonder is number 1, that's only in the ADS, everything they say in the commercials is ****!! MSN is better, they don't limit the speed, and they just compress the images to go faster, u can do that in your internet configuration, damnnnnn USE MSN!!!! lol or another one, not AOL

lol, sorry... maybe u have a contract or something, but.. AOL SUXZ, i hate it!!

here we go again.

xp-rtm... you dont think that aol compresses its images? what we use to build our non-html pages is faster than html dreams to be. youre gonna sit there and say that msn is better cuz its cheaper? i seem to recelect a time when msn had ads going that said they were cheaper than aol. you know what happened next?

MSN RAISED THEIR PRICE ALSO. so, in a lame attempt to keep sorry users in a crappy service they try to put some cool little ui on ie and sell it as something to compete against aol. get this simple fact put into your head you aol hater...

AOL OWNS MSN. msn cannot even touch the userbase aol has or the quality of the service aol provides. so get over it.

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH, are you being serious???? maybe u work for them, LOL AOL owns MSN, lol, hahahahah, that's funny man!! that AOL maybe they can't support too many users and that's why they limit the speed, lol, let me LOL again, lol :p

Ohh by the way... i don't like MSN Explorer, i just like a normal connection and Internet Explorer, so i have DSL!! not from MSn nor AOL :s , but if i had to give up my DSL.... MSN come to papa, lol
