That put the Washington Nationals right where they like to be ? behind on the scoreboard. ADVERTISEMENT Ryan Church, Brian Schneider and Vinny Castilla homered, and Loaiza settled down to earn his first win in more than a month, leading the Nationals past the Athletics 7-2 Wednesday night for their season-high sixth straight victory. Church had four hits and three RBIs, falling a double short of the cycle. The victory fit the pattern the Nationals have established in taking over first place in the competitive NL East. Imagine what they could have done in Montreal if the league would have cut them some slack last year and gave them the requested $150,000 at the trade deadline when they were still tied for the wildcard spot. Congrats to Nats fans though, and remember, don't take it forgranted because you never know when they'll be taken away.
