Guest Dan C
What a disappointment, every time i clicked on a link it opened a new IE instead of a tab( i clicked on button on the taskbar to enable this ) i had to right click the link then choose to open in a new tab. Which caused the 2nd problem, both tabs would then flick back & forth between each other around 2 times a second constantly... I really hope tab implementation in IE7 is better than this :( 586054477 It will be a lot better :) MSN's Tabbed Browsing In a future post I will talk about some of the challenges relating to building Tabbed Browsing as an add-on to IE. The MSN team has taken on this challenge, and their latest toolbar adds tabbed browsing to "older" versions of IE. I haven't used this toolbar enough to comment on the functionality, but I've seen some confusion in the community and I want to clarify that this is a separate effort from IE7. Slimy
yeah. blame the developers of those sites cuz they can't code using REAL web standards. that is their bad, not the browsers. 586042345 technically, they are the ones going by the standards. :p

Explain that their web developer has chosen to "lock out" anyone who does not want to use internet explorer and give them some links to articles about IEs security flaws. Be clear that everything done on the site can be done in a manner that supports all browsers and that the site will also most likely be faster and use much less bandwidth. Basically, "you are losing customers and paying too much for site hosting because your webdev sucks."

Sorry, I can't condone that. I'm all for fixing problems in IE, and I'm very happy about the work that's being done for IE7. But spewing FUD in an attempt to get a web developer fired is going too far. If you want to e-mail the webmaster and explain that you're a Firefox user and that you'd really like to see your browser supported, that's fine. Firefox is a fine browser, and although I don't use it, I think it's great to see more sites officially supporting it. However, often supporting Firefox can mean a lot of extra work (and ADD delays and bandwidth usage - to detect the user's browser, for example). And in many cases you simply can't make one page work properly in two browsers (often times even the "standards compliant" ones). Basically, you can support Firefox and its "cause" without ****ting on web developers or other browsers. Try and remember that.

I would try to explain this to him, but the guy is a raving lunatic (and he isn't terribly bright, so I wouldn't expect him to understand this stiff). Name of Mike Florio. Notifying the management/ownership of an issue that is hurting their company is not spam. It's something they would probably want to know about. Furthermore, I did not once mention Firefox in my post. This isn't about Fx, it's about web standards. Lazy/incompetent webdevs should lose their jobs. They're basically ripping people off. There are plenty of people out there who would do the job correctly. Feel free to link a site that could not be made to look correct in all major browsers (obviously excluding advanced standards following sites made to show off css/xhtml by people who don't care about IE). jakej
Ugh, I hate it. It takes up 2 bars worth and the tab shows up even when there's only one tab open. I'm way to used to Firefox - I'm just keeping it for the Windows Desktop Search, which is a big improvement from the standard search feature in XP. - WindowsTechie
