website or webbrowser: what creates odd word links

Recommended Posts

The browser I have has been showing certain words in the text, the text was intended by the site but the links are something automatic that was not, that everywhere the words appear they have a double underlined link that is not intended by the site creators. What is the source of my problem and how do I fix it?

Surprisingly enough I don't remember how to take a screenshot.

But I can describe...

example... on the word "Computer" in Sony Computer on the home page of this site it has a window appear when you hover the mouse over it that says some Dell Computer ad

It's double green underlined and it's like an alt window that the ad is in, I'm def not going to click it, but I didn't see it when I first went to the page so I doubt it was intentional.

No, it was definitely intentional... You know how the ads change every time you refresh the page? Well this is just another ad that comes up randomly like the rest.

It would seem very unconventional for sites to sponsor several different seemingly random businesses from links to word or words in the text of their articles themselves. I would think they would keep the ads on the side and popups and banners.

frustrating.

I guess I lost my audience while I had the computer trouble getting the pic up.

Please reply if you see this with your ideas thanks.

Will you not listen to me? Seriously, this issue was asked about a LONG time ago here on Neowin and it was answered. It's a new type of ad that they have on here and it's on some other sites as well.

they're standard ads. nothing to worry about. just to help neowin survive.

and they're not unconventional. they're very common now, especially since most people block popups.
