fireworks mx listening on udp port???


Question

hey i went to do a search on the topic but couldn't find any.

has anyone noticed that once you run fireworks mx, udp ports 4732 and 3527 is open for listening? and the whole program terminates when i try to terminate the processes leading to it.

Using active ports.

hmmm.. anybody can shed any light here??? :confused:

hmm looks like i will answer my own question here.

it's beacuse of the answer panel since it connects to the net every now and then for updates. :)

anyone knows how to disable the function?

nah, it is trying to send something to macromedia. i got an error warning in tiny firewall that said it was trying to send a udp datagram to macromedia. install a firewall and dont allow the outgoing connection. it is as easy as that.

Found a similar thing with Flash MX on our Network so decided to do quick test. We installed it on 2 machines and booted Flash up. What happened was thing - the first machine loaded up OK. The second machine detected the other installation, flagged up the IP address of the machine and then quit. It would seem that if you only have a single user license, you can't run 2 or more copies of the software on the same network at the same time - needless to say, we now have the proper license codes.
