0 BroChaos Veteran Posted June 20, 2002 Veteran Share Posted June 20, 2002 i agree. default mozilla kicks default IE's ass big time. however, if you use netcaptor or crazybrowser, then you kind of get the best from mozilla plus the compatibility of IE. how anyone can live without tabbed browsing is beyond me. 0 marshallmick007
I am glad to see some people actually using mozilla. I've been using mozilla for about a year now and switched to using it as my main browser when they implemented the pop-up stopping. Another good feature is ad blocking. Simply right click on an ad image and choose block images from this server.

0 freeza
well im stil using IE 5.01 and it hasnt ever crashed on me once so i dont know what you do to your compuer to make a browser crash but hey.....this isnt even about IE its about mozilla so trying to bash IE whenever you can isnt going to accomplish anything its about the features of mozilla not yeah i like mozilla...it doesnt crash like IE does every 5 min i seriously doubt a browser crashes every 5 minutes for anybody that knows what they're doing...come on now
0 shockz
Mozilla's pretty cool... gotta love that ad blocking :)
0 Hawk999
Yep the MoZ is cool. But there is more... select a word, eg "Victimization", right click on it and choose "web search for "Victimization". Mozilla will take you to your selected search page and it will have the search results ready for you. You can customize the Moz how you want. Here you can find the skins starting from Moz version 1.1 alpha: http://themes.mozdev.org/ You can change your splash screen. Go here for a few others: http://home.zonnet.nl/p.duijm/splash/splash.html or here also for intructions how to change your splash screen: http://www.deskmod.com/?show=showcat&cat_n..._name=mozsplash Also there are quite a lot of programs in delvelopment. Such as mozOffice. An Office suite that will work through Mozilla. Check them all out here: http://www.mozdev.org/projects.html And finally the Mozdev's have set up a page for Netscape skins that will work with Netscape 7.0 PR1. At the moment there are only 3 skins available but there will be more. Here: http://themes.mozdev.org/netscape.html In mail there are features that make it more easy to handle mail like: You can set the color of quoted text in the Mozilla mail program. Smiley's like :) and ;) will turn into graphical smiley's. And this is only the beginning. I don't want to comment on what browser is better. You would first have to know, better for what?? Give Mozilla a try and if you like it keep it, if you don't, go back to the browser you used before. It's your choice! ;)
0 Dazzla Veteran Posted June 21, 2002 Veteran Share Posted June 21, 2002 I use it on OS X and I have it set with my intellimouse to open a link in a new tab with the scroll button, the left hand side button opens a new tab and the right hand side button closes the current tab. I tried using Mozilla on XP the other day and my intellimouse software couldn't set my scroll button to be ctrl + single click. Perhaps it's because I haven't got the most current software but this ****ed me off massively.
0 Gator
I have been using Mozilla exclusively for about a week or so now and I am really happy with it. The tabbed browsing is like a whole new world.:)
0 Redmak Administrators Posted June 21, 2002 Administrators Share Posted June 21, 2002 I hope they change tabbed browsing. I want everything to open in a tab not a new browser window. I mean like links in this messageboard open up a new browser not a tab and so does 'open in a new window' Is there a setting for that somewhere (I don't want to use my middle mouse to open a new tab)? 0 lazydesert
for some reason the linux version has more options for tabbed browsing.. Open tabs instead of windows for... Middle-click or control-click of links in a web page Windows opened by the web page (maybe this would do it ??) [off topic : germany just scored :(] Middle-click or control click of bookmarks and personal toolbar items control+enter in the url bar

Oogle
Cool feature #1 - pop-up window blocking
No more pop-up ads!!
Cool feature #2 - tabbed browsing
This really frees up all the clutter in my taskbar.
Everything else is ok, but these 2 features really got me thinking about switching from IE. If website compatibility and stability can hold up for the next few weeks, I'm sold.
