SEATTLE - If you go to abc.com, to the message board for anchor Peter Jennings, you can read the heart-felt messages.

"We miss you". And this: "A Poem for Peter Jennings". It's entitled: "We All Miss You."

The touching tribute came from the tiny fingers of Adora Svitak. Adora is just 7-years-old.

When the Redmond girl found out Peter Jennings had lung cancer, she wanted him to know: "We all want to hear your voice and when we do we shall rejoice."

Adora became a fan six months ago when she met the anchorman.

"Look at the expression on the picture. He's very attentive. He's really intrigued by her," says Adora's mother Joyce. She's referring to the pictures of Jennings and her daughter.

Peter Jennings was on the set of Good Morning America in February. Adora Svitak was a guest on the show. GMA had found out about her after KOMO 4 News did a story about her -- Adora had written 300 short stories, and she was only 7 years old!

At first, Adora didn't know who Peter Jennings was.

"No, I thought he was part of the staff maybe," says Adora.

Jennings was just as curious about Adora and her talents as we were. He watched her type 60 words a minute. He learned what we already knew: That Adora had written all those short stories. How many words? "270,000!" she says.

Her words these days have a historical perspective, ever since Peter Jennings sent Adora his book, The Century.

"I can write better because I'll know more facts," Adora says. Jennings signed it. "You are the future," he wrote. Adora wrote back: "You are the past, present, and future."

One day Adora would love to see Peter Jennings again. Until then, she wants me to pass this message on:

"I would want him to get better and really fast," she says.

We all do.

If worst comes to worst for her, she can bull**** her way through life, aren't stories great? :p

officer: Did you steal your mums car, and go joy riding while under the influence?

girl: No officer, but I know what happend.

officer: Oh please, do share.

girl: Well it was 11:45 when the king in shinning armor got sick of his pretty ponies, so he sold them at a market....

Yep she'll go far in life ^^

honestly, am i the only one that gets ****ed off by these kinds of stories, little girls are not meant to be novelists. if she grew up and maybe at 5 decided she liked it or something i wouldnt mind, but if she was taken straight outta the womb, taught to read, write and play piano and never given a real childhood (as i suspect is the case) thats where these things annoy me.

On the other hand i suppose its never a bad thing to see someone well educated and at least shes not saying she was blessed by god so i dont have too much against her

You don't know if she does get time to play like any other normal child does. In this day and age of crap television this is a wonderful thing, this world needs more intellectual children, instead of youngins wasting there summer vacations being in front of the tube watching Yugi-oh and other such crap. If i had a child i'd spend as much time with them as possible teaching them studies, taking them on trips when and where they can learns stuff about the world, humantiy and other important things that make a good citizen, of course i won't force them to do anything they won't like and i'm sure this is not the case in this story. I'd introduce my child to such things that interest me and that i think every human should take time to study just a little bit. It's not bad to learns about the world you live in and express yourself in a productive, non offending manner. If they don't like certain things, i think getting involved in what they DO like and helping them with that as much as possible. Not one child is born a tv dwelling, video game playing mindless drone.

i agree, however im sorry to enforce the stereotype but i have alot of asian freinds and all but 2 of them were put into things like Kumon learning centers doing grade 12 math in grade 7 and so on. if this girl loves being a novelist then thats good, however im just wondering whether she was 'told' to love it. either way as i said before seeing someone well educated is never a bad thing. i just hope she is presented the opportunities of a normal 7 year old as well

A touching tribute to Peter Jennings came from 7-year-old Adora Svitak, who met the anchor while in New York after appearing on GMA for writing 300 short stories.

So many people are concerned about so called "Normal" Childhood. It depends on how "Normal" is defined. Not any so called "Normal" child has the opportunity to go on Good Morning America to meet Peter Jennings. Not any "Normal" child would find so much joy to discover the pleasure of creating stories. People should celebrate children who enjoy learning and creating. Good childhood shouldn't be limited to endless and mindless play time. It would be impossible to imagine that Adora wouldn't enjoy pure playing when she has so much imagination through her stories. You can safely bet that her play is even more enjoyable than other kids who spend too much time on TV and video games. A good childhood should be a happy and productive childhood. OK that was mentioned already (twice). I have the slightest doubt you're either a hardcore fan of this girl or you're a relative. Possibly her parents.
