spike232
i was getting a lot of bsods in xp i removed the last piece of hardware and it was stable for 3 days then it started to degrade again, now the comp wont boot up for bsods. so i turned on full post this morning and it failed, so it is definetly a hardware issue, the prob is im not 100% sure what the error means, i have an ami bios, it takes a bit to count all my memory and the word ok is still beside it, it then moves on to the ide channels, it detects primary hd then stops and displays memory test failed, what does this mean, ram, HD?? if the hd how bad?? could it be the cable?? or even the motherboard?? Vlad
Er, it sounds like it gave you the error. Try removing your hard drives and any other hardware (ie, leave only your cpu, video card, and memory), and booting. If you still have problems, go into your bios and "reset it to factory defaults," then try booting again. If you still get problems (memory errors, etc), try removing memory one stick at a time and see if you can identify the one causing the problem. Normally, if the POST is giving you memory problems, it's a major error - POST memory checks are "in general" at best.

Vlad
*sigh* Didn't bother to read my post and follow my recommendations, did you? FIGURE OUT WHAT HARDWARE IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. Then you can determine a solution.
spike232
i did read ur post and have followed ur advice, i was just restating my problem in a clearer way as Crazy_Seb and probally others could not understand my oringinal post as it was written in a hurry before the next bsod happend :p i have now descoverd it was the 2nd strip of ram, but it still seems silly why the bios decideds to tell me this not when it tests the memory and declare it ok but in between loading ide drives
