I really like this program. But, I feel a little guilty that neowin server is getting queried so often!
When I select "Change Refresh Rate" from the title menu, the prompty instructs "Enter new Refresh Rate in minutes..." So, I enter 15 and press [OK].
Unfortunatley, I can clearly see the checker is updating much more frequently than every 15 minutes. It is updating more like every 15 seconds!!! If I sit and watch this thing, I can see the message list change quite frequently. In reality this is practically updating in real time... which is nice from a use perspective. However, with as much traffic as Neowin already gets, I feel guilty sucking away that much bandwidth for an application that is hidden behind my applications 99% of the day! :(
Perhaps the refresh rate is actually in seconds instead of minutes? I am going to try entering my time in seconds (15 minutes * 60 seconds = 900 seconds). I sure hope the timer in this program isn't actually based on milliseconds... otherwise, the forum checker might as well be keeping a continous connection open to the Neowin server! :o
