JrDZ13
Big Problem with my pc now... My PC had been continually slowing down, small errors here and there... and then it just CRASHED. My Windows XP Pro started to start up and then stopped on the black Windows XP BOOT SCREEN. I did a scan disk, formatted reinstalled and on my second boot I had nearly the same problem, (though i could acess windows VERY slowly). I did another scan disk and this is what i got: ex. "File Record Segment 27787 unreadable." The error message continued naming about a hundred, fairly scattered unreadable file record segments. Any one offer any advice as to what to do from here or have ne insight as to what to do to fix this? By the way its a 60gig Maxtor hdd (bout 6 months old). Tesseract
My guess is that the HD is bad. Did you try a low level format (not sure how to do that, but that may help)?
lx qu33n
looks to me like u have some corrupted sectors on ur hd, in other words it is defunct and u should get a new one or refund depending on how ur warranty is. and all check ur ata100 connection to the mobo. i was sorta having this problem too for a little bit when i got rounded ide cables for my hdd's and not my cdroms and xp didnt like them when they were connected so i re-checked the connections and brought out more cables for the cdroms and they work now, as of 2 hrs ago ;) so ya, check ur connections and otherwise it is something faulty about ur hdd
