.htaccess

i have a personally who consistenly comes to my forum and spams it, its a diff number but ends with prodigy.net.mx will htaccess block him completely if im blocking prodigy.net.mx ?

heres what my .htaccess looks like

order deny,allow

deny from 200.0.0.0/8 , inktomisearch.com , prodigy.net.mx , 200.66.231.33

allow from all

blocking him in that way may block others of the same isp, etc as well so that would not be a good idea. it should work, but you should add a . before prodigy.net.mx so it would be .prodigy.net.mx to work.

i'm not sure if this way of blocking would work anyway, as he would easily just connect through a proxy and can just access your forum that way. but, if he doesn't know how to do that, then he would be blocked i suppose

well he aint used a proxy yet to spam me so iono, but i know he knows how to use em

if im blocking multiple ips how are they seperated, as

deny host

deny host

or

deny host , host

or

deny host host

someone i know had a spammer on his message board.

we got so fed up with him we added his ip to the servers firewalls deny section

didn't just block him from spamming that board blocked him from everything on the server :laugh:

well his ip is changing every 4 or 5 days, and blocking his range on their firewalls my admin said would block a few of their current customers

blocking all that will most likely block the entire isp. You can control registration, and deny it, when he regiesters.
