Argote
I randomly lost all my bookmarks and settings and extensions one day. I didn't do anything, I left the computer for a class, I came back, and it was all gone. It's like firefox uninstalled itself, then reinstalled itself fresh. I was pretty angry... 586081571 yeah happened to me too...
Djmutik1013
I had this happen to me too. Good thing I backed up three days before that. I think it might be a bug in 1.0.
Shadowbladex
i went into my user data... there is only one profile, and that is the default. i looked at the bookmarks.html and they are missing... 586081630 hmmm.. if they're missing from there i'm not sure my above fix will work :(
icecaveman
Still those problems are IGNORED by Mozzilla fan boys, usually these fanboys are the same who are on a holy mission to bring Linux and Open Source to the heathens! Djmutik1013 no it has happened to me from time to time since 1.0.
curme
They have a bookmark backup extension for Firefox. It has a folder for everyday of the week, so you bookmarks are never more than a day old.

WorfsPonytail
i have a million other things to think about other than backing up my bookmarks. a program that deletes your bookmarks shouldnt be released to the public :s and i have a book mark search, finding what i need is easy. [bear]
yes since the problem effects less than 1 percent? Actually its not even confirmed yet.. all of a sudden the product shouldn't be released at all? I think you are overreacting. We don't even know the source of the problem yet. amrinders87
I have been having issues with bookmarks too. They dissappear randomly. After restarting firefox, the show up again. Fire Fox has just too many bugs. Hopefully Microsoft will wow me with IE 7 so I can switch.

If they don't have problem no one else has. Sure it should be released to the public but it should not be labeled as stable or at least still be in BETA. Perhaps at 2.0 release we will see close to bug free Firefox.
Andrew Lyle Global Moderator Posted June 18, 2005 Global Moderator Share Posted June 18, 2005 I hear Opera is pretty good these days... 586081564 troll... he wasn't asking for a new browser, as he says... i cant stress this enough... everyone loses everything important to them. if you have something very important (bookmark, a girls number, a girls contact, etc) YOU SAVE IT RIGHT AWAY!! and make sure you don't lose it!!!!!!!!11! Kinda hard to fix a problem when you don't know where to start. It seems to be random at this point. I don't use Firefox, but it is a GREAT browser. Since when did we start assuming software is suddenly bug free? When has any company released a perfect piece of software? You take a knowledgeable risk when using a particular piece of software
Draaku
You could try a system restore. That might help you.

"Thats the problem with open source developers" LOL  Right so open source has bunches of bugs then eh? So closed source doesn't have the same problems? k thx. Real funny stuff man. Nothing is bug free. Lets wait till this bug is confirmed until we start to collect two of every animal and call it the end of the world. edit: see chad's post above.. Nothing is bug free. All developers are developers regardless of the way they develop some mistakes will be made. I fail to see how you think open-source programmers are religious fanatics. I guess bringing new software ideas is a crime nowadays.
kerby
I just hope the problem gets fixed, because losing all my settings/extenstions/bookmarks was not a fun thing. But its a great browser other than that, I really have no complaints. But I agree, it's going to be hard to fix since it happens randomly when I wasn't even using it.
