what's a good fan for athlon xp 1800 under $30

Recommended Posts

My new pc will have a XP 1800, ordered with just the stock fan/heatsick for now, but concidering most the stock stuff isn't the greatest, what's a good fan for $30. BTW, I won't be needing to OC it.

Since you invested money on a good system, I would suggest to get good cooling to protect your investment. Save an extra $20 making a total of $50 and head to www.newegg.com and get a Thermaltake Volcano 7+ for under $50 shipped. It's one of the best HSF you can buy.

Although it may be a tad bit expensive i reccomend the Swiftech MCX 462. It has a very secure mount and its the best heatsink money can buy IMO :D

Ewwww don't get an orb. I had one and the f ucking fan failed and i was left woth a fried CPU. Plus that orb don't hold on too well. Yeah it uses 3 clips on each side but its still a bit wobbly IMO.

lol your funny. its solid in my system for about a year now, and its holding on w000000000000000t 2 clips, the dragon orb 3 is a monster and its awesome, IMO. Also its running on a 1gig p3, i wouldn't touch those breakfast makers. and your 1 person, whats to say the fan you suggest won't fail either? maybe it was because of user error? who knows, only you do, after all it was your chip that fried, oh and if it wasn't an athlon perhaps it would be still alive, as we all know intel has had the upwards hand in processor protection

i agree with another poster here

the Thermaltake Volcano 7+ is definately the way to go (i use it myself for the 1800+)

if your short of funds, steal if u have to, get one.

u get it, u wont be disapointed with its performance or its loudness (mines on low and works fine and temp is 47c load)

anything else u wanna know just ask
