and when it boots up it shows athlon xp 2100+

First of all the pencil trick does not work with the Athlon XPs, also, just unlocking the CPU does not automatically make it overclock, you have to do it via the multipiers, FSB or combination

Is it a 2100+ normally? Or is it a overclocked 1900+? If its a overclocked Athlon, you can NOT see 2100+ at boot, but you'll just see the CPU it really is.

edit: I see its a 1800+ normally and its on a A7V266-E, which i both own too, and my o/c'ed 1800+ just shows 1800+ at boot, so you are just lying or your CPU got switched. ;)

i'm so freaking serious! HEHE, i did it and it worked, i just don't see the need to OC my CPU cuz i don't want the life to be shortened and all. I usually sell my CPU after a while to buy a newer one and i don't want people complaining to me 6 months later saying it's dead.

I OCed my 1800+ to 1702mhz (1.7Ghz) and it was NOT watercooled or unlocked. I use a ThermalTake Volcano 7 HSF and it keeps it real nice and cool, it's at 39C (normal speed) right now so you can't tell me i didn't do it. If i had a digital camera i'd reboot and set my settings in the BIOS and then boot to show you. Taking a screenshot in Windows doesn't really prove since almost anyone can edit the images in Photoshop. The crappy low/fussy image of me trying to take a picture of a CRT while displaying something would prove it.

When my pc start, i could see "Athlon XP 2000+" and it just was a 1800+ running @ 1645 mhz (the 2000+ runs @ 1667 mhz...)... ;)

FSB= 145 just using Epox 8KHA+ and Alpha Pal 8045 and an intake and exhaust, however im thinking of switching to watercooling and getting one of those 2200+ processors and breaking the 2ghz mark, anyone know if one of those tbreds fits on an epox8kha+? or do i need to get a new mobo? epox web page says 21000+ works. finally got my summer job so its time to pick the machine up to top of the line again for the year.

21000+ works

AMD tbreds 21000+???? I want one of those!!!! :p :p

I think that tbreds fits in the "old" A platform, you just need to flash your bios... :ponder:

hehe no you can get much more than 120 mhz without unlocking it. i currently get about 170 but thats on air cooled. also you can get it over 148 without unlocking i got mine to 155 fsb as of now and plan to go a little higher later tonight.

oh and i have a 1800 @ 1796 (so close for it to be really an 1800)

thats an ax-7 and a tornado, as of now

i know that the epox 8kha+ wont let me go 148+ and i think 145+ never tried higher. It just gives me a blue screen of death even on XP. I am pretty sure it is not the Ram b/c i use crucial ram. and it is not that hot, and AMD processors are pretty close to the same, i dont think the processor. I dont know alpha pal 8045. hsf is really decent. if anyone figures anything out let me know. I am going to try to unlock the cpu and get more reliable and cooler OCing. im pushing 145FSB at 11.5x and i dont think i can go further, maybe ill try dry ice and see wh ti can doo hehe j/k

you may just need to toss on a little voltage. when i run it at 1796 its at 2.0 volts and then heats up to 50 degrees but when i normally run it i do it at 1.85 volts and about 1720 at most. but once i get to a point where i hit unstablilty i pop on a little more voltage cuase im really not afraid of the heat since i have that covered. so yea just try that if you can
