That tree thing...

well death was the punishment, god said that before they ate it anyways. and satan decived eve, and then adam saw her but instead of stopping her he joined in. and also it wasn't harsh, there was another law when working on the sabath the punishment was death.....

and here is a lil joke.

Question: Why did adam take the fruit from eve?

Answer: Because she was naked.

not the change the subjects but this is along the same lines, which i've always thought very weird.

ok, in theory we all descended from adam and eve. Now it's known that if a brother and sister have sex and there is offspring, there will be mental and physical problems with them, deformed. Ok, so when adam and eve had kids, they must have had a boy and a girl, correct? in which the brother and sister HAD to have sex to create their children, who in which would have been deformed. so again, in theory, shouldn't we all be running around deformed?

Ah well we all know the story...there was an apple...or maybe some exotic fruit...a serperent...with legs :s (I never really got that part) and you know...the guy and the girl...

Anyway apparently they were curious or something and decided to eat the sacred fruit...Ok...couple of questions at this point...firstly why was the tree so sacred...If God was so merciful and kind why wouldn't he put the tree on any of the other 700000000 billion hectares  ...thats my first problem....

Secondly isn't God meant to be forgiving? I mean an eternity with death for something we didn't even do...seems rather harsh doesn't it...:woot:

But maybe...and this is my favourite theory...maybe...just maybe....adam and eve ate the fruit....and this is a new revolutionary concept...because they were hungry....Wouldn't be the first time God's forgotten  to feed people...Ethiopia...Madagascar...Zimbabwe...

So basically...I think that maybe...just maybe...Adam and Eve ate the fruit because they were hungry...so stop eating world...god doesn't want you too...so go do the whole immortality thing...live for ever and everything...but do God a favour...and do it without food...(Y)

just because u cant find an added incentive to lead a good life, doesnt mean that other people cant.

An added incentive to live a good life - if you are so evil to need an "added incentive" to what most people think is just humane common sense then yeah I think you should be brainwashed.

basically, noone here can actually prove/disprove any religion's ethics, or the religion itself.

That's the problem with religious people and the organisation they are in, individuality is not promoted so most churchies never get the option to find real answers for themselves. There is no God, research and common sense tells me this, and it doesn't make me sad or evil!

I feel sad that most of society is brainwashed, it appalls me to be really honest.

I suggest you tone down your responses. The are borderline offensive. You are more than welcome to share your opinion, but not when it insults others.

I'd be interested to see what kind of research has gone into the physical disovery of God. Besides, my common sense tells me there is a God. It's all about point of view.

The truth is it does actually offend me as a human being that so many people are so brainless (being that I am human also). I want society to evolve and move on, as I feel religion is wasting peoples time and efforts for no good reason.

I will to tone down my passion in future posts.

Nah, passion is what makes us individuals and moves us farther from your "brainless" human description . However, saying

religion is wasting peoples time and efforts for no good reason.
will bring stiff opposition and/or flame posts from many Neowinians. I disagree with what you say, but I'm smarter than flaming you. If you're correct and religions are worthless, they're still creating a moral standard that many people follow, which is having no adverse effect on our society today. Without the fear of consequences in a/the afterlife, people would not be so morally righteous (although most people aren't )

I don't remember where I heard it ? but I go along with a theory that Genesis was basically a fable God told Abraham to explain the creation of the world. It makes sense to me, I mean, imagine trying to explain the physics of the universe and evolutionary zoology to a sheepherder?

Yeah.... And for you to take literally something that supposedly happened at the beginning of human kind makes me wonder. Now you also have to realize...snakes can't talk. That might have been your first clue of something. Maybe the story is about morals? Anyways if you can't figure it out and on top of that decide to be an ass and try to mock the religion making yourself look even worse you are more or less asking for your thread to be closed. Sorry.
