Kitten Born With Two Faces

Recommended Posts

Kitten born with two faces seemed healthy in every other way except that it had two faces, has died of unknown causes.

Roseburg, Oregon - The kitten?s name was Gemini, born on Sunday June 12th was healthy in every way except that it had two mouths, two tongues, two noses and four eyes. A Roseburg veterinarian who examined the kitten the following Tuesday said that he could not estimate the life span of the kitten. He further said that among his staff, with a combined 50 years experience, they have never seen anything like this and gage the kitten a 10% chance of survival.

The kitten was the offspring of a miniature cat mother and a normal sized cat father. Everyone in Roseburg was amazed that this kitten even exists.

The kitten died last Thursday. Reports were that it seemed very tired and it did not seem to want to eat. The official cause of death has not been determined.

why is this news, I've ssen lots of cats with 2 faces or 7 legs or stuff like that, my mom had a cat that had a paw on it's face that lived for 1 1/2 years or so...if you watch barn cats and all the baby's they have, a lot are deformed, because of inbreeding and the chemicals used around them.

cat's are durable, that's why so many with birth defects live past birth.

...but still not newsworthy.

Poor thing :(

Its ironic that it couldnt eat even though it had two mouths though!

Then again Im guessing it only had one brain, or it could have had an undeveloped brain. Im guessing this case is like Siamese twins conjoined by their heads. So one brain controlling two tongues would be abnormal.

Poor kitten... One of a kind.

I remember seeing pictures years ago of this snake that had 2 heads, very freaky :s

On one hand the cat looks cute, yeah I know, wrong term possibly, but still

On the other, its sad and tragic. Got to love nature though and the way in which mutations can manifest themselves like this

I was at one of the Ripley's Believe it or Not museums last month in New Orleans, and they had pictures of lots of similar deformities. They even had a picture of a chicken with no beak! I still haven't quite figured out how that chicken managed to eat (maybe it was hand fed by it's owners?).

I saw some kittens at a flea market a while back that had extra claws on some of their feet. I think one of them almost had an entire extra foot on one of it's front legs.
