Damn, I quite liked his role on Countdown - RIP :(

Also Tigger ruled back in the day, bouncing about

That Channel 4 advert now has alot more meaning.

I thought that too, I saw him on the advert saying how he would always like to be remembered as the first person on channel 4 and the next day he is gone.

Bit of a shock :(

Its one of those channel 4 adverts they seem to have a lot on now with actors from Scrubs, Desperate housewives, Jamie Oliver, The Osbourne's etc saying their favourite foods, what they would like to do if they wasn't actors, what they would like to be remembered for and such.

usually on a lot Friday nights

Another Whiteley here. He was probably related to us somehow...

Shame he went so young, he was a great guy. RIP.

Guy was annoying as hell within the "Countdown" confines. But as a bloke he seemed pretty cool. Saw an interview with him and he's not the wally he seemed on "Countdown".

Nice bloke, RIP

Such a great loss, I was also quite shocked when I heard the news. I remember some good episodes of Countdown, he was a very good host and who can forget his style of shirts and ties, classic :(

I hope channel 4 give him a proper tribute, I don't think countdown will ever be the same

Very sad news. I have to admit that I'm totally gobsmacked - even though countdown was never such a great show. I mean it was always just there, around dinner time or so. It was comforting in the same way that a warm bed on a rainy day is comforting. Countdown seemed so much like one of the few certanties of life.

On another note I can't help lauging. I don't know why. I guess I remember all of the terrible jokes Richard told and how happy he was and I can't help but laugh. I doubt he would want too many tears anyway.

No doubt knowing Richard, he will probably have some awful pun or other printed on his gravestone.

GJ

PS does anyone know if there is an official book of condolance that we can sign?
