yisman
An evacuation of the Capitol was called, and then called off four minutes later. Secret Service agents had taken up positions on the front lawn with shotguns. Apparently, an aircraft strayed into restricted territory. People are still milling around the building. emo
This happens more often than one would think. At least they are getting more training in case something dangerous were to actually happen.
yisman
Yeah, they're very cautious. But I can't remember the last time they announced an evacuation of the Capitol building.
yisman
Thats an odd defense plan. 586140199 Not exactly sure what the Secret Service agents were going to accomplish. I guess if terrorists parachuted down from a plane or something.

Septimius
A while ago, during Reagan's funeral, the capitol was evacuated because the plane carrying the governor of Kentucky failed to identify itself. Link. The capitol was evacuated again this May when an unidentified plane was spotted. Link. This happens fairly routinely.
yisman
Good point. I guess I didn't hear about those when they happened. This was presented as crucial breaking news, and it interrupted programming on non-news stations.

dreamz Veteran Posted June 30, 2005 Veteran Share Posted June 30, 2005 And shotguns will do what? 586142960 they're just for decoration. you know, like to fend off predators. this is pretty common, though.

If it really is a terrorist threat of some kind, there may very well be more than one aspect to the attack. It actually makes pretty good sense to me.
