Stop whining about outsourcing.... causing losses.

Recommended Posts

This was bound to happen. after US of A and e.u asked asian countries to open up markets , their was going to similar effect on themselves... mayb not on same scale but atleast cause similar emotional feelings... like it did in asia.

here... not everyone was satisfied when countries(like mine) signed WTO agreement... removing heavy taxes on USA/EU manufacturers and special arrangements (like land subsidies, providing road/power/water to this huge IT parks where the MNC's could setup offices) facilitating MNC manufacturing plants and all that was done.... this was seen as ending LOCAL companies cutting them out of business by creating compitetion from HIGHER quality products from FOREIGN brands and making millions of people jobless...

but instead government here forced Foreign ( USA/EU ) manufacturers to tie up with local companies ... this gave companies like FORD , SKODA, GM(do they own ford?), CHEVROLETTE(GM i guess), HYUNDAI, and many other to set huge plants here by using local companies manufacturing base (almost all were MODERNISED instantly and MANY new were set up) and instead of millions getting jobless .. more jobs were

created and local companies survived too.

(also similar example can be said about nike boots reeboks FUBU and other well know companies setting manufacturing plants here saving them millions and giving thousands of people jobs here)

now lets cut back to IT scene.

now regarding outsourcing of IT jobs... why so much whining in USA? we did'nt whine when EUROPIAN/USA companies setted Industrial PLANTS here (okay we did little whining.... well okay we did lots of whining too)...but we thought of a solution and Solved it.

same way... their are thousands of IT positions NOT BEING filled in USA and EUROPE due to LACK of available "skilled"( a important keyword here) professionals . and they are getting filled by INDIANS, Singaporeans, and other asian countries... also EASTERN European coutries (like romania, poland, others) are cashing in this IT outsourcing BOOM.

I myself am employeed by hosting companies in USA (texas) and happy to work for them they are happy ( i hope )to have me and infact i feel i should pay some income tax in usa....

So, instead of feeling pain of loosing job.. this thing needs to be worked out and local IT-workers mindset in usa/eu should change.

AND BTW if you think its not just about loosing jobs but USA/EU are loosing/giving huge amounts of money to outsourced workers and in a way country is not profitting.... stop... then think twice.... cause thats totally wrong. read here for more. (ok i know its inquirer and they are not the best sources to be taken totalyl seriously... but do u say same when they report about neowin on their site? )

I know in BC, outsourcing in out IT industry has been an issue because there are skilled workers here not getting jobs because they can pay the outsourced workers much less than someone here in BC.

I've also heard from programmers who's companies outsource that they end up rewriting the code because its sloppy, or not in the format they like.

Personally I think that outsourcing and a global economy is good but it does have it's drawbacks. Every country is going to lose jobs in sectors and gain jobs in others, I don't really think in the long run the US is losing anything to be honest, it's all cyclical.

As India and others becomes more and more "modernized" the people will start demanding better wages for thier work, which will lead for outsourcing to move somewhere else. It's the same thing that we in the US deal with already, just on a global scale as opposed to just our nation. The main problem I think is people feel they're entitled to a certain job, and I don't think they are, you have to be ready to switch gears in a capitalist society.

wow.... are u dead right or what. there was story on cnet about indians get offered double wages easily.... job-hopping on rise.

cause living standards have shooted up here... i really mean.... people dont admit it here.. .they want to believe this living standard was always there... but NOT... things that people used today are totally different.

the monthly salary on which i use to survive some 2 years ago ... now i spend it in a week or less.... hell my phone bill is same as what my montly salary was 2 years ago.

and just today i went to interview at countrywide financials office here. (the place at which its setup is a huge call center... awesome architechture there), and the person taking interview was from usa(or eu i guess but foreigner for sure) and i asked nice sum of money... comparable to wht i am paid by current employeer in texas. see.

so what mAcOdIn is true word to word :D.

I've read about that, too. And then they have to pay American programmers to clean it up, or even worse, rewrite everything. If that's the case, American companies should keep this particular job within our country. :)
