Upgrading to Office XP

Question

I'm thinking about upgrading to Office XP and was wondering from someone who has it what they thought of it and if its worth spending the money on it. I know there are reviews and stuff out there, just want someones opinion without having to read some two paged artical :p

If you have Office 2000 its not worth it. If you have 97 go for it. The only new thing since 2000 is Smart Tags and a side bar, but if you want to have the latest and greatest...

Office XP is virtually the same thing as Office 2000 with weird looking menu bars. The only REAL upgrades are in FrontPage and PowerPoint.

Some good features in Office XP is Outlook's ability to use Hotmail, a full featured address/contacts book, a configurable calendar, and the ability to backup information. It also uses the newsgroup reader from Outlook Express. But if you are comfortable using the FREE Outlook Express, don't spend your money. There are several programs out there to backup email information that cost a lot less than Office. As for the other programs, beside improvements to PowerPoint, FrontPage, and Excel, there really aren't all that many innovative features.

I tried Office XP and I didn't really like it! If you want a good office suite, consider getting Corel WordPerfect Office 2002 Professional! It's $100 CDN cheaper than MS Office XP ($699 CDN for Corel vs. $799 CDN for Office XP)! WordPerfect Office 2002 takes less than half the space that of Office XP (240 MB for Corel WordPerfect Office 2002 and 560 MB for Office XP, if your file system is NTFS). Most of the stuff Office XP has, Corel already had it with their Suite 8 or maybe Suite 7!
