Crazy_Seb
I installed them, and they boosted my 3DMark score by 400 (!) points. :) So i say, install. It can never hurt anyway. :)
aco Veteran Posted June 26, 2002 Veteran Share Posted June 26, 2002 They definately support Windows XP and Via claims they "improve performance and maintain stability". Although, at one time I remember reading on ViaHardware.com to only install newer 4in1s if you are having problems. :ermm:
paulladle
I always install them to see what they do, however you might want to install them in Windows 2000 compatibility mode as they sometimes don't fully install if you don't do this. This was certainly true for some of the earlier (allegedly WinXP compatible) versions which showed you a blisteringly quick progress bar but when you check the drivers nothing has changed. Also if you don't show an AGP device in your device manager you're going to want to install them as WinXP doesn't always detect this for certain VIA chipsets.
