rob2090
does anyone know how to accomplish that ? I want it to be a separate bar like the the status bar and be present at all times
+unabatedshagie Subscriber¹ Posted July 10, 2005 Subscriber¹ Share Posted July 10, 2005 There is the personal bar, it's not exactly the same but you can get your bookmarks on it.
xxdesmus
are you talking about something like this?
rob2090
@ alex. : I've tried that with the personal bar setting, but I have to drag bookmarks either from the bookmark sidebar panel or from pages, it gets annoying :/ I wish it could load the bookmarks, like the side panel does @ xxdesmus : If that's the default bookmark bar which comes with Firefox then yes, that's the one
+unabatedshagie Subscriber¹ Posted July 12, 2005 Subscriber¹ Share Posted July 12, 2005 There is a quicker way than dragging and dropping, just highlight all the folders or bookmarks you want and right click on them. There will be an option to show on the personal bar, click on it and whatever you have highlighted willl be on the personal bar. Also when you make a new bookmark there is an option to have it show on the personal bar.
f45
Yeah, personal bar is everything you need. As @alex. said - just highlight these that you want there and choose "show on personal bar". You can put there folders with lots of bookmarks too.
rob2090
yay ! thanks alot guys :) only complaint I have now is that I miss the free space I had before (w/o the personal bar) Is there any way to make it smaller :p ?
f45
You can use minimalist skin for saving a little space or even better - put all your bookmarks in the right click menu and get lost of personal bar ;)
+unabatedshagie Subscriber¹ Posted July 13, 2005 Subscriber¹ Share Posted July 13, 2005 As f45 said you could get a minamalist skin like breeze or you could get the bookmarks dropdown button from here and place it on one of your bars like the address bar. Also you could try right clicking on the personal bar and clicking on customize then change the wrapping to show extender menu.
ThePast
As f45 said you could get a minamalist skin like breeze 586205550 My modified Breeze II V.4.11 stripped down to the essentials. I have assigned my 15-20 most used bookmarks nicknames. So, for example typing neo + enter in the address field brings me directly to the Neowin forums. IMO much better than cluttering up the browser with icons.
+unabatedshagie Subscriber¹ Posted July 13, 2005 Subscriber¹ Share Posted July 13, 2005 ^^^ I thought I was the only one using breeze :), thats exactly what I do with the nicknames, soooo much easier partially typing in a name than lookng for and clicing on a button. It also looks a whole lot neater IMO. I found it quicker for me if I changed the F1 button to: new page & go to nickname and F2 to new page & go to page
ThePast
^^^ I thought I was the only one using breeze :) 586206461 :) Neah... there are some more than us, I've been using it for nearly two years and have grown very fond of this space efficient and discrete skin. I have at times tried some other skins but none has lasted more than 30 minutes before I switched back.

Altered State of Consciousness
I use Fresh myself! Love it! I like my layout simple and (like many others) lots of screen space! I use mouse gestures to do about everything - the buttons are just there for others who may choose to use Opera (my friends, when visiting, don't have a choice :D ). ThalSwe
Personally I use mostly mousegestures to navigate with Opera so only got Back/Forward as buttons (to be able to select to witch page to go back to instead of doing the mouse guesture enough time to get there). I also added a new mouse gesture to hide the menubar when its not needed and that save some space aswell. When I need it I just make a quick move and its there. rezza Veteran Posted September 2, 2005 Veteran Share Posted September 2, 2005 OK, I have a (sort of) related question: Can I move toolbar items into the menu toolbar? See here for a graphical description of what I want. Or if I can't do it that way round, can I add the file, edit etc menus to a normal toolbar, and remove the menubar? Either would be OK with me. Oh well, at least my menu doesn't look terrible any more ;)
flak
on that custom buttons wiki site there is a button to toggle your menu bar, that if you click and hold will show your menu as a dropout: see screenshot . just add the button to your folder toolbar also, that border (to where the red arrow points) pull's out your bookmarks, dunno if you already know that, i prefer not to use folders of bookmarks like you have, and just click that border =)
