0 insanekiwi
rip the dvd (smartripper), use dvd2avi to prepare the video/audio stream. the nuse tmpgenc to encode to vcd (mpeg1) or svcd (mpeg2). most dvdplayer can play plain mpeg files too. if you have avi files, convert em to mpeg (i think virtualdub can handle this). under nero select vcd/svcd and drop the mpeg file.then burn it and voila :)

0 insanekiwi
use nero (ahead.de or nero.com) select a new project then make a vcd or svcd, select your mpeg file and drag'n'drop it,then burn it and voila, vcd or svcd made.

0 Hummer
it doesn't really matter what you use it's giong to take you a while.. imo if you can just hook you computer to your tv.. saves you a lot of time and hassle trying to encode to mpeg. 0 flyers
It's so easy to do with Nero and Virtual Dub. For full length flicks as AVI's or DIVX: 1. Open in Virtual Dub. 2. Set Video to "Direct streaming" 3. Set Audio to "Full Processing Mode" 4. Select 1st half of flick 5. Save as AVI 6. Burn in Nero (Nero will convert AVIs from Virtual dub) 7. Repeat for 2nd half You don't need to go through a seperate encoder. Plan on Nero's encoder to take around 2 hours for half of a 90 min. flick. 0 Deron Dantzler
why does the nero encoder always switch the movie to fullscreen? it doesn't leave it wide screen. using tmpgenc i can make it widescreen, but i always end up with horrible skips. nero is faster and doesn't skip or anything, but i don't like it to stretch the movie to fullscreen instead of wide screen. any way around this?
